After successfully ordering some Dansco Supreme Albums from a link supplied by Mila, I am now on the hunt for some of these at reasonable prices. I think they're too expensive in Australia.  $6.50 for 50 staple types.

I was all set to order some from Canada a few months ago, but the postage by surface mail to Australia was ridiculous, and I was advised by Wendy Schell at Colonial Acres that Canada post does not ship airmail to Australia so…  ??? ???

Surface mail $33.75 for 1000 and $57 for 2000 - 8 weeks delivery
Express Post $66 x 1000 & $138 x 2000 - 7-9 days (Express Post - Is this NOT Air Mail ????)

I tried Brent-Krueger as well, same result, freight put the total cost way out of the question.

Ok... this one I can go directly to the store. Long trip for me though (don't drive) I try not to go too often. Not sure if they ship to Austraila though. You can send email and ask.

I always use airtite.com, but the price of the freight is still a killer. It doubles the cost of the 2x2's, but still a lot cheaper than buying them here.

Thanks folks.  I'll get busy emailing & see what I can find out.

I'll let everyone know if/when I order some & how much it all costs.

I might start with airtite.com seeing as how Steve already gets them there cheaper than in Aust.

Maybe you can buy in bulk and sell to club members Nevol.

I am sure some would be interested in a cheaper price than they are paying now.

I thought about doing that, but I haven't got the ready funds to start it.

I could probably do this on a small scale, but I think it would only be for local Brisbane members as if I had to post them around Australia, I think any savings might be lost.   :P

I'd also need to know what sizes & quantities people would need, or if locals are even interested.  ;) :)

A week to late....at ANDA I purchased a box that contains 50 of each size, so that will late me for a few weeks or so.

Purchased the box because it was like a dispenser for the 2 X 2's which I thought was a good idea.

I did a lot of work on my US Collection today & realised I don't really like the US type of 2x2's very much.  They don't have the little half circle tab on the top, & I rather like having that.  Curses, back to the drawing board.  I'm glad I didn't rush off and order a couple thousand, I'd be spitting chips.

Airtite.com takes me to Ebay & I'm trying to avoid buying from there.  I can get 50 for $6.50 from my local supplier & no postage involved.

If anyone knows of a US supplier who has the holders with the half circle tab, please let me know. Thanks.

Nancy, sorry the addy for airtites.com should be air-tites.com, here is the link anyway... http://www.air-tites.com/Cardboard_2x2_Coin_Holders.htm

The self seal 2 x 2's at the bottom of the page, have the tab on them.

If you can get 50 for $6.50 though, it looks like a good price.

The US prices are way lower than anything available here in Oz, but shipping is a killer! I've had a look at all the sites reccommended & have tagged a few for further investigation.

I might decide to get some US ones minus the TAB, I'll just have to get used to them I guess.  ;)

Will post research results when all costs have been determined.

  • KOTCT #67. Collecting bits and bobs for 35 years.
*grins*  Nevol, the first time one of our Aussie members sent me a coin in one of those flips with the tab on it, I was astounded. I'd never seen one like that before in all my years (twentish of them) of collecting.  I still find them odd.

It's just a case of what you're used to, I think. :)

Anyway. I buy lots of 100 flips in a red cardboard box for around $5 at my local store.

Do add this coin to my collection?

Kitty, the ones with the tabs are soooooo much easier to remove from the folder pockets!

Some of my old 2x2 storage pages have a half moon cutout at the bottom of each pocket, allowing the 2x2 to be eased out, but since the introduction of the Tab top, the pages no longer have this feature.

As Tobyle pointed out, the tab makes it way easier to get the 2x2 out of the pocket.  I sometimes also colour the Tab with a hiliter & this tells me which denomination coin is in it without taking it out of the sorting tray I use.

Greg, We are all anxiously awaiting you reply.  ;D ;D  Please do tell if you source your holders in Oz or US. Do you get them directly from a Coin shop, or are they mailed, if yes, how much does postage add to the cost?  :)

If $10 per 100 is the all up cost, we would appreciate the contact details of your supplier.

I also use the staple type with a tab.

I use the tab to write the year of the coin, they then go into an album in country/year order.

Great price, I think we would all be interested in the supplier, c'mon spill the beans Greg.

Folks you have mail.  I'll recheck in the AM.  The last I brought (4 weeks ago)were that price.  I don't know what the postage would be, but I can ask.

I bought 1400 from Air-tite and they came in at 6c each landed here in Perth.
He may have stuffed up the postage though.

Folks, They are $9 per hundred, with $6.50 flat postage.  According to staff, this postage cost is the same for 100 or 1000.  Better check with them but. The sizes are in mm: 17.5, 20, 22.5, 25, 27, 27.5, 30, 32.5, 35, 37. 5, 39.5.  There are other sizes 40mm to 53mm.  These are 2.5x 2.5 and cost 25 cents each or 22 cents each per 100.

Hope this helps

Greg,
I had assumed your supplier was in the US and wouldn't have mind this.

I have been looking every where -ebay and store suppliers and found them with the tabs
but they are the self-seal type.  :(  :(  and sold in 25 or 50 count,  for roughly $6-10.
Have yet to find a US connection that sell the staple type w/tab.

Thanks,
mila
