Title: Canadian pre-confederation coins
Post by: Felinfoel on April 07, 2023, 08:21:25 AM
I'm in Boston (saw the Bruins play the Toronto Maples Leafs last night), and wandered past Bay State Coin Co on Bromfield Street. It's been there forever (I went there frequently as a kid), and it's one of the last vestiges of "old" Boston.

I picked up this 1861 Nova Scotia one cent there. I liked the look/patina.

I have a few partially filled (Canadian) Whitman Folders of Nova Scotian/New Brunswick/etc. (aka "British North America") coins at home. I'm going to pull those out and work on building that collection. My son goes to school in Nova Scotia (and my family is originally from there a looong time ago), so this should be fun.

Great coin Felinfoel! It's wonderful to see such an old coin from Nova Scotia! It's neat to know about your family's connection to the area as well

I've always wanted to visit Nova Scotia and have made it as close as Maine. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to visit in the future.

Good luck on your collection!

I grabbed the matching Nova Scotia 1861 half cent tonight off the bay. Seller's photo, I'll send mine once I have it in hand.
