This is a 1947 Indian Rupee of George VI sent to me by Sir George. This is most definitely a prized possession in my special Kitty Collection. A huge thank you to Sir George! :D
You can see below the date a faint dot. This dot appears to be diamond-shaped, leading me to believe the coin was minted at then-Mumbai, now-Bombay.
The Tiger Rupee is a one year coin, only. (according to Krause.) The 1/4 Rupee and the 1/2 Rupee were minted in both 1946 and 1947.

Sounds very nice, Ms Kitty, but can't get the picture to come up!
....... But ...... I know the one - have the real thing in front of me (also from the wonderful Mr George). Glad you pointed out the 'dot' - I would have missed that.

I'm not getting any picture either.

Shouldn't that be, then-Bombay, Now-Mumbai?

Seems I repaired the broken link by rightclicking on it and pasting the URL in another browser window
Then I got forbidden operation and logged in the pic gallery and pasted the link again
and when I posted the image the original showed up also :D
Nice Kitty ;D First name Bengal ?

Hmm. Seems one must be logged into the KOTCT photo gallery for the picture to show up. o.0
And... maybe it's BombayMumbai? The city once known and now known by one of those names. ;D

OK, I logged into the gallery and now it works fine.
That is a great looking coin.

Just sorting out the last batch of coins that George sent me and I found he has sent me the same coin too.
Thanks George. :) :) :)

I have also been sorting thru coins that George sent me.
These included 2 coins called Amman Cash.
Thanks again George for some great looking coins.
