Title: Titanium St. Gaudens Double Eagle Centennial coin club medalet
Post by: edix on January 08, 2008, 12:37:47 PM
I've highlighted the titanium issue, but the set includes other various metals, and even a commemorative stamp, all from the cleverness of Tom Maringer at the Shire Post Mint for the benefit of the membership of the Ozarks' Coin Club in Springfield, MO:

Very nice! I know Tom via the internet, and he lives a few hours south of here. He's a good guy, and an incredible craftsman.

Tom Maringer wrote me about the design. The St. Gaudens image was from a die hub that he got from the Patrick Mint. That company had used the dies to make tiny 1/20th oz. gold replicas that were sold in newspaper advertisements. Maringer has a lot of hubs from many mints.
