This is the Belize series of coins from the 1970's. I think this is the most beautiful series Belize ever did, and it rates highly on my favourite coin scale for all time.
Belize was known as the British Honduras. In 1973 it changed its name, but did not become fully independent until 1981. After 1982, the coins are aluminum, with drab numeric reverses, and the Queen on the obverse.
These are the One Cent (Swallow-tailed Kite) and Ten Cent (Long-tailed Hermit) pieces from the series. The Ten Cent is a silver proof.

These are the Twenty Five Cent (Blue-Crowned Motmot), and Fifty Cents (Frigate Bird). The Twenty Five cent is a silver proof

This is the One Dollar (Scarlet Macaw), and Reverse shows the National Coat of Arms.

Not pictured is the Five Cent (Fork-tailed Flycatcher), which I don't have an example of in my collection. It is another gorgeous coin, that I hope to be able to find.

Elle,
If you're into bird coins and are looking for more, let me know, as I'm sure I've got a bunch of "extras" that I can get to you.

Fred, I'm into just about every kind of coin there is. It's just that this week, the birds caught my attention. I am partial to coins with any animal on them, cats being my favourite.
However, I would be delighted to do a trade with you, if there's anything left out there that you don't happen to have yet. I greatly admire the bits and pieces you've shared with us so far. :)
