Title: Money Show of the Southwest Treasures
Post by: ElleKitty on December 02, 2007, 01:22:06 PM
Saturday I got to go to a larger coin show over in Houston.  There was a dealer there who had a box of coins he'd just bought, with a lot of Australian coins in it.  I dug through and pulled the five predecimal pennies I needed from my list. (I still have about six to go for a complete set which will never be completed, but I can get most of them!)

Anyway.  The coins I picked out were:  1920 with the dot above the scroll  1921  1931 1948 Y.  1953

The guy charged me $10 for all five of them.

Does anyone have the current prices on Predecimals? My books are great for reference, but a bit out of date.  The coins are mostly in VF except the 1920 which is a little bit more worn.

I missed you at the Money Show. I was at the back of the hall doing the "Pick a Penny" for the kids. We had mounds of Lincoln cents arrayed on the tables, with lights and magnifying glasses and gave each child a half hour to find and fit in as many pennies as the could to fill the album, which they could then take home. It was like herding kitties, I tell ya!

Edix, we were looking for you too, but since none of us could remember your real name, it made it a bit difficult.  ^^  I looked at the program to see who was giving talks on Sunday, and nearly asked if either of you were there, but our chaffeur started herding us to the door around 3 or so.

I'm sorry we missed you too.  It was nice meeting the others from CoinPeople.

Muckeye, that's lovely news.  I knew I got some steals on those early pennies.  Oh, if only he'd had a '25 in there as well. *Tries to look forlorn whilst grinning like a Cheshire Cat.*
