Title: Coins with pyramids
Post by: Zoins on December 27, 2018, 06:36:18 PM
The Mexico 20 Centavos showing the Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacán in front of the volcanos Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl was the world coin from my youth that really stood out as I just really liked the pyramid and thought the rays behind the 20 denomination was great. My childhood coin was a brown EF and I recently picked up the following MS65RD for $50 to relive my youth. Of course, a couple of months later, I couldn't resist picking up something looking very similar for $2 out of a dealer's junk box ;)

Hi Zoins.

Yes they are a very nice design and I think that is why I like
Mexican coins so much.

I'm a big fan too. I have a cap & rays peso that I just love and I'm a big fan of the Caballito and others too. They just have some really great designs.

I don't have any fancy Mexican coins, just basic circulation coins.
You can see them here if your interested...

Wow, you have quite a collection! I love the variety.

Classic circulated looks have grown on me as they give the coin character, like these:

Thank you for looking at my coins.

Yes, I agree the "circulation cameo" , as I have seen it described,
certainly does add character to a coin.

I have never really noticed the pyramid on the Honduras coins, even though I have some in my collection.
