Title: Photobucket Causing Grief With Hosted Images
Post by: Humpybong on June 29, 2017, 11:33:57 PM
Problem found with Aussie Forum:

Photobucket Causing Grief With Hosted Images
If anyone in this forum has hosted their images on Photobucket and then linked the image to a forum post, then your image in the post will most likely disappear, if it hasn't already.

Photobucket has changed their TOS with no warning, and are now demanding $399.99pa if you want to link your photobucket images to another website.

Most of the world is calling it ransomware - if you google photobucket, you'll find many thousands of references to the chaos it has caused in forums worldwide.

If you have a photobucket account, I suggest you make sure you have a backup copy of all your hosted images, as it seems that not paying up may result in you being locked out of your account.

If whomever has photo's there and would like them saved here to access. I can do this and relatively easy. If you have to leave them there, just provide me with a copy of the files -or- if their is a ftp path to access your files get me that and I will just download them to here. Anyhoo... I can set all of you up with a safe place to link to your images.

LET ME KNOW...

Photobucket down killed all my stuff :( :( No big deal, I still got most of the coins I had on there and of course I still got the grandkids. Although I may have a little trouble getting my 15 year old granddaughter to pose in her dipper again. ??? ???

Nothing that I really need to keep there, so I just deleted my account.

Everyone needs to take a good look at what I did to our Gallery. It now provides everything you will ever need to store and display your photo's. I opened up the permissions so everyone gets full access just so everyone gets full benefit and this should help things along making the transition from one place to another.

You can do single file uploads or entire folders with hundreds of pictures. Each member (by Default) is given their own folder called "MY IMAGES". Here is where you store it all and then you can copy to other folders or link to a post or anything else you need to do with it. You can even create as many subfolder you need to keep things organized. **Remember: When uploading files - Be sure to be in the destination directory - If you miss, it's OK... They are easily moved.

Also, each photo stored has live links to copy to posts or anything else in our forum. It has a full WYSIWYG editor for comments too. It's really pretty neat.

I think this is a powerful addition to the site from the standpoint that you now have two of your interests bundled together seamlessly. Both functional together or separately. I hope everyone uses and enjoys its ease of use.

I wanted to test it out so I uploaded my header stuff just to see how long it would take. There are 40 large images (approx. 3.5GB) and it took about 90 seconds to upload and generate all of the thumbnails. Not bad at all...

Check it out and put it to use for yourself.

So how do you load a whole folder full of files.
I must be missing something. :(

Choose "New Gallery" from the main page menu.

Choose "My Gallery" from the Gallery menu.

Scroll to bottom and choose "Bulk Add Pictures" from the Gallery menu.

CLICK the white box saying "Drop File or Click here to Upload".

I think you can figure it out from here...

Have fun!
