Whatever the problem was, it seems to have righted itself, but I still won't post any more Tinypic images just in case. ::)

I'm going to do a fairly big update of my coin images, so I will be very busy.  :o

That puts my Canadian coins on the back burner, just when I was getting in the groove too.
Managed to get about ½ the 1c, 5c and 10c done and ran out of puff.  8)

The slide on the coins highest point is from the velours lined cabinet drawer
often the drawers were not high enough and touched the coin when opening and closing
this slide will limit the grading to MS63 for what was a MS65 coin

Do you or anybody else have an idea if coins with a center hole are still made or when the last was produced ?
In Belgium it must have been around 1955 because I remember the magical trick of putting an elastic tru the coin
showing it
releasing it
and wow it was gone

In Greek mythology Europa (/jʊˈroʊpə, jə-/; Greek: Εὐρώπη Eurṓpē) was the mother of King Minos of Crete, a woman with Phoenician origin of high lineage,[1] and for whom the continent Europe was named. The story of her abduction by Zeus in the form of a white bull was a Cretan story; as classicist Károly Kerényi points out, "most of the love-stories concerning Zeus originated from more ancient tales describing his marriages with goddesses. This can especially be said of the story of Europa

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europa_%28mythology%29

There are several European Coins with Euopa on it and denominated in Euro

100 FF from A the Paris mint
Augustine Dupré
During the last days of the monarchy Augustine won a competition with the desing of a Lucky Angel

It has a kind of angel - neutered - writing the constitution on a tablet in french they call it a Genie
The wooden bundle on the left is a Roman symbol of power Fasces https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasces
The rooster is a symbol of valor and the eye is the highest point of the coin for graders

The story has it that Augustine was going to loose his head to the guillotine but that he bribed
his guards with a 20ff gold coin whence the name lucky angel http://www.coinweek.com/bullion-report/the-extraordinary-legend-of-the-french-angel-coin/

The design of the coin was used by later mint masters
The one shown is produced by Barre

Germany is a Federal Republic consisting of 16 states. So, there will be 16 coins in this series. There is one state/coin per year. It started in 2006. So, this is the 12th coin in the series. Hence, it will end in 2021.

Nice coin PYW.
I haven't heard of the ECU coins before. :)

The ECU was for long an electronic payment without exchange risk in Europe
I do not think that circulating coins were ever issued
But there were many pattern coins and gold coins
For political reasons when the time came to make circulating coins the name Euro was selected
and 1 Ecu became 1 Euro

I guess that makes sense, as the UK wasn't formed until 1707.
Would have thought Great Britain would have been in the list though,
as the title is United Kingdom of Great Britain etc.

The broken cross on that 2 filler solves a 20 year old discussion of mine
It is said that the emperor during one of the many wars ordered his crown buried and it got damaged digging it up

On the other hand there were those that said the designer ran out of space and had to break the cross to get it on the 100 korona coin your coin has space enough so it must have been damaged

100 korona 1908 attached

What is the thing in the middle ? A hole with a different background or a bimetal ?
I never heard about 1 pice as monetary denomination

That's just a hole in the coin and the background cardboard showing through.

India - British - Rupee (1862-1947)
3 pies = 1 pice • 4 pices = 1 anna • 16 annas = 1 rupee

Very nice PYW.

The little, 3 legged, symbol above the sword, is a representation
of their motto, which is something like, "Which ever way
you push me, I shall stand".

I had seen that 3 legged symbol before but never heard the motto and you
got sharp eyes since I did not notice it on this coin  :(
