I picked these colorized silver eagles up at a coin store for a few bucks over spot about a week ago. Figured today would be a good day to share these pictures.
I remember exactly what I was doing on September 11th 2001 when I heard the first plane had crashed into the first of the twin towers. I was working at a machine shop, manually writing a program for a cnc mill. The whole shop stopped working and watched those terrible events unfold on a small tv in the lunchroom. Do you remember what you were doing at that moment?

Here are 2 more silver eagles that wouldn't download with the last post.

I can't open the pics. Must be too big.
I was watching a movie that night and suddenly the scene changed to the Twin Towers and we thought the movie had changed to another movie, then we realised it was actually happening. Don't think I ever saw the end of that movie, but it didn't seem to matter much at that point.

It was a Tuesday morning when it happened. I was at work as usual and someone came out from the lunchroom (which had a television set!) and said that a plane had just hit one of the twin towers, but nobody at that point knew if it was an accident or a deliberate act of terrorism. So I walked into the lunchroom to see what was going on (a crowd was starting to gather around the TV) and as I looked at the screen I watched in horror as a second plane hit the other tower, an image I will never forget, ever! Right then everyone knew that this was not going to be a good day. So everyone turned on their radios and as the morning unfolded we were hearing all kinds of reports, from the going down of the plane in Pennsylvania to the plane crash into the Pentagon, and then the greatest horror of all I think, was when the towers began to collapse, it seemed as if I were having a bad dream. Then as all of this was unfolding I started to get a severe headache which I will never forget either. Just kinda felt numb the whole rest of the day. Just unbelievable!

I had just turned 18 when it happened. I was on my way to work at a restaurant, taking back roads into town. I was trying to get some rock and roll playing on my car radio, but all that was on was news reports. I didn't even listen to any of them long enough to realize what was going on, as I continued to try to get some music on for my early morning drive to work. It wasn't until I arrived at the restaurant where I worked that I found out what events were unfolding. All of my coworkers were gathered around a small radio, and everyone was very worried. When I left work there were huge lines of car at all of the gas stations, because people were afraid there was going to be a disruption in oil importation. I finally found one where the line wasn't too terribly long, because I really needed to fuel up my car.
It seems like it's been forever ago, but at the same time it feels like just yesterday. Kind of hard to explain. But that was an unforgettable day, both because of the extreme tragedy as well as because of the uncertainty everyone was feeling about what was going on in the world.
