I also hope your wife is improving.
If possible please keep us up to date about her progress.

I also hope your wife is improving.
If possible please keep us up to date about her progress.
She is in intensive care for 4 full weeks today
mitralis valve operation and a second aorta valve operation
pneumonia and trachotomy ( tube through incision through throat )
she is off heartsupport but the machine is breathing for her through that tube though the throat
and the side effects of pneumonia will not clear ( moved from bacterial to fungal ) still
coughing and phlegm's
Bloodclots in heart and lungs are diluting
She is off the critical list with no braindamage
Her attention span is like 5 minutes and they put her in a room with TV for distraction
So the next milestone is to breath autonomously but no forecast is given
Thank you for asking
August

Thanks for the update August.
I hope that Mrs PYW is able to breathe unassisted soon and that she will be able to come home as soon as she is well enough. I think Mrs PYW must be a real fighter to
make it through all those complications.
My thoughts are with both of you.
-
Nice to hear that Mrs PYW is making a recovery.
I hope she continues to improve. :)
-
Thank you for your support
Here in Belgium doctors still make house calls and we have a doctor
who has been coming daily for years and years to give injections of painkillers
for fibromyalgy
He confessed he estimated her chances at 10% after the second heart surgery
Obviously the university hospital is not saying much so I take our doctor
weekly to assess the situation
We agree it will be a long and painful recovery until walking again
-
You and your wife are amazing August.
You have both been going through living
hell for years and you soldier on. I wish your
wife well and a speedy recovery. And I wish you
a happy belated birthday and many more to
come for both of you. :)

Thank you my friend
Soldiering on is the only thing left
Abandoning is not an option

Today my wife is 40 days in intensive care
Like a crude cardiologist put it to her
"Your heart is 100% the rest you have to do yourself"
A machine is still doing 100% of her respiration because of continuous
lung problems
No prognoses of time are given any more
I myself figure another 20 days in intensive is likely
and my family has not visited once me or her cause they are too busy
-
I will remember your wife at my evening prayers. I hope everything will be good.
-
You and your wife will also be in my prayers. It sounds like she is quite a fighter.
-
Thank you fellow knights
For the third time they are trying to get her off the machine respiration
So far so good

The Best
-
The last 48 hours her condition has re markedly improved
She is off life support right now with only oxygen supplement
-
Sounds encouraging. I hope the improvements continue rapidly. You are both in my thoughts.
-
I will add my prayers for her continued recovery. I am glad she is off life support.
-
That is great news PYW. :)
-
Hang in there August. :) I will be praying for your wife and you also. :)
-
Glad for the good news. Hang in there August.
-
Heartfelt thanks to all of you fellow knights
After 45 days in intensive care with moments nobody had much hope
for survival anymore
They are now talking of releasing her to a normal hospital room in two days
A scenario my house doctor tells is possible
1 They damaged the lungs during mitralis valve repair
2 Lungs collapsed and the heart was not doing well so they put in an
aorta pump ballon which damaged the aorta valve
3 They did a second surgery repairing the aorta valve
4 Normal pneumonia followed by fungus pneumonia
5 Stomach ulcer
6 A lung specialist found a piece of dead lung tissue and removed it
( officially the obstruction was soooo small it will not be in the final report ???
7 Final recovery after 42 days started immediately after the unmentionable small
piece of lung tissue removal
And this is one of the two best hospitals in Belgium
-
SUPER NEWS..........GLAD THINGS HAVE SEEMED TO HAVE WORKED OUT FOR YOU..............THANK GOD----------------
YOUR FRIEND THE TEMPLAR
-
She was put in a "normal" hospital room and now the hard re validation starts
She needs two nurses just to try and stand
But I am happy
The rest is only heard work
-
So good to read some good news. Want you to know both you and your wife are in my thoughts my friend. Keep us posted and do wish you both the best. I know what its like to have family and not see them when you need them. Seems we have much in common! Stay strong August and tell your wife she has folks half a world away thinking about her and wishing her a speedy recovery now!
-
Fantastic news...best wishes to you both.
-
Thank you all
She is in an hospital room for two persons because a single room allows the hospital to raise
a luxury supplement of 300% on the room and on each and every doctors visiting or any extras such
as drinking water etc ( they ask 2 euro for a bottle of water ) only coffee or they is included in
the "lodging" price
Of all the good luck one can have the woman next to her who was checking out today
died yesterday night so they are now sending a psychologist for counseling my wife
We are rapidly using up all the bad luck so the rest of our lives should be flawless ;D
-
My wife is now back home but it will take like ten weeks
before she can walk again since all muscles are 40% gone
The max danger is now in falling and breaking something
Thank you all for your kind words
August
-
That is great to hear that she is home, hopefully you can both get back to enjoying life soon :)
-
That is great news, PYW. :)
-
Very good to hear that you have her home now.
I hope that her recuperation continues and that her muscles start to re-build. :)
-
Best news I have had all day.
Keep her well August
-
She is so well that she started complaining about all those painful exercises
The professor prescribed for starters 30 muscle rebuilding sessions with
a kine-therapist
3 per week of half an hour
Next session she will have to sit and they will put a pound bag on each foot and she
will have to lift the feet to horizontal 10 times in a row
She will have to do two staircases etc
Especially the lower leg muscles need to rebuild
Thank you all for your sympathy
August
