Jealousy rears it's ugly head!!! I do like the Lion design on this coin. I grabbed it at one of the local shows. I have a dealer who specializes in world coins, which are few and far between. I keep a list of tough countries so if he's has them I grab them, and will offer them up to the needy. ;)

It's not the two lions design, I have seen that on East India Company coins too. It was just the fact it seems such a rare coin, I mean, St. Helena! How many coins did they need?!...sounds ueber-rare...

In 1821, they needed lots... to pay the troops guarding Napoleon well enough that they wouldn't be bribed into shipping back to Europe to wreak havoc.

They seem to be common enough here in Australia. I bought mine (in fairly worn condition) some years ago from a local dealer, fairly cheap. Must've been all those convict ships stopping off in St Helena to resupply... :D

I have a coin from St Helena. A cu-ni crown size 25 pence. I love crown size coins. To collect that is. Would hate to carry them around in a wallet.
