She may have suffered metal fatigue that killed some Liberty Ships
It was a long time before this metal fatigue was recognized
and yet when you want to break a metal stick you bent is several times in
the opposite direction and it soon breaks

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, is one of my favourite songs.

FROM UNDER WATER PICTURES THEY GUESS THAT ONE OF THE TOP LARGE LOADING AREA WAS NOT SECURED AND WHEN SHE DIPPED DOWN IN THE WATER SHE FLOODED AND THE SHIP TORE APART---IN THESE LAKE STORMS THE WAVES BLOW SO HIGH THAT MANY SHIPS HIT THE BOTTOM BETWEEN THE WAVES------LAKE SUPERIOR IS SO COLD THAT YOUR LIFE EXPECTANCY IS ONLY ABOUT 15 MINUTES----THE AIR FORCE USES THE LAKE TO TEST PILOT'S GEAR IN CASE A PLANE GOES DOWN IN THE LAKE---I HAVE BEEN IN THE LAKE IN AUGUST AND MY LEGS TURNED BLUE IT WAS SO COLD AND OTHER TIMES I HAVE SWAM IN IT AND ONLY MY JEWELS TURNED BLUE
GOD BLESS THOSE WHO GO DOWN TO THE SEA...............

Oh, you remember 'Mood Rings' when you mentioned your jewels turned blue. For youngsters, 'Mood Rings' were jeweled rings that changed color with mood changes....actually temperature. Joe, were you wearing a lot of rings.....or only 2 of them?

A lovely little church it is, hidden right in the middle of Downtown Detroit. I walked past it several times before I realized just what it was and what it signified.
-
I grabbed a CD to play in the car on the way to work.
Just a compilation of my favourite songs.
Just happened to have "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" included on it.

It amazed me, how two modern warships could collide. OK it was at night, but surely they still had radar.
-
Remember it well. While not on either ship I was near by. Bad Night and a couple days after. :o What amazes' me most is all the photos from the Russian ship Krasny Krin. ??? ??? We always knew the ship was around, but never really thought about her taking photos I reckon.
-
I DON'T KNOW HOW OLD MANY OF YOU ARE BUT AS A KID I REMEMBER AIR FOOTAGE OF THE ANDREA DORIA AND THE SHIP SHE COLLIDED WITH INVERY THICK FOG---SEEMS TO ME THE CAPTAINS EACH THOUGHT THE OTHER WAS GOING TO PASS ON THE OTHER SIDE INSTEAD THEY HIT EACH OTHER-ONE OF YOU GENUSIS CAN TELL ME THE OTHER SHIP'S NAME AND HOW MANY DIED..................

We steamed with the JFK. They just did
what they wanted and signaled about
it whenever they got around to it. Sometimes
sooner if they just cut someone in half.
