Title: Adds taking possession of the castle
Post by: Paint Your Wagon on October 19, 2013, 06:28:10 AM
On the summary page and on every topic page I get a grey band
with in very difficult to read whitish letters the sentence
" adds not by this site"
I read the HTML and it looks like Google adds took over

KOTCT does not do ads in our castle.

Must be your ISP or your Browser........maybe download a new version of browser and remove old one first.

I keep 2 browsers going just for that purpose (Google Chrome and  Internet Explorer).
Used to use Firefox but found ads came thru them.

I visited a few other sites and got up to 5 companies trying to track me secretely
A few other sites got grey bands too when I block google analytics
So it looks if you do not know you are tracked you do not see the grey bands but
if you block google analytics up comes the grey bands

Here in the U.S. company's don't have to track us. The Gov. does it for them.  ;D

After searching several hours I found "ads not by this site" is an adware malware program and it is not
recognised by any of the virus scanners I used but sits in firefox extensions

So I disabled all firefox addons and by trial and error found the extension is called magnipic 1.5
I do not even remember why I put it there if I did
So I deleted this extension and the problem is gone

Like they say
It is not because you are paranoiac that nobody is out there to get you  :D

Today I installed NOSCRIPT and I was truly amazed that up to 8 different trackers
were tracking me even here in the castle
Google is the frontrunner with its analytics script

Armstrong seems to be right about one thing
Every country is looking for money
The Germans have plans to tax everybody who uses their roads also tourists that
go thru germany on the way to austria ski vacation
Like 80 euro per year even if you use the roads only two days in a year

Nothing new there since the french have had tollways for as long as I can remember
but they were privately built and owned

Over here china will probably own our roads
and bridges, if they don't already.   >:(
