Well it's almost Saturday in Perth (11:45 PM Fri) and is Saturday in Sydney now (2:45 AM Sat), so I'll post this. On this date, the SS Yongala sank in a cyclone near Townsville, Australia. Maybe Steve remembers this. Why is Sydney on daylight savings time and Perth isn't? Maybe it's the same in the U S where 2 states don't want to be on D S T and aren't.

Are you being cheeky? I wouldn't remember this, I wasn't even born then. ;D
We have had trial day light savings and even had at least two referendums
on the subject. The NO's keep winning. We have a very large state, which stretches
way up to the north, where they get plenty of day light and the heat that goes with it,
so I think it is those guys voting for the NO, which overrides the YES vote from Perth area.
Queensland also does not have daylight savings, probably for the same reason.
I wonder if Nancy, Humpybong or Sap know about this ship.

I'm not familiar with the term 'Cheeky'. If that means a smart a$$, yes.

Never heard of it. It sank 32 years before I was born.
Qld did try daylight saving at least once, and I didn't like it much at all.
My sister in NSW reckons she loves it, but can't explain why when asked.
