Title: Seaport flooding Downtown New York City
Post by: paul007 on October 31, 2012, 12:35:14 PM
Good evening all,
After 48 hours without electricity, water, heat, etc. we finally got all three returned to us. I am 3 blocks east of Ground Zero and just two blocks from the east river. Many of the restaurants, stores, apartments were destroyed east of us. My friend's apartment, just across the street from my complex had water up thru her second floor apartment. Her chest of drawers and 8 foot oak table floating around the apartment. Still, things are returning to almost normal. In retrospect we spent weeks dealing with the smell of burning flesh after 9/11. The winds blow west to east and we were not evacuated. Guess God was good to us on this one. Say  prayer for us and those who did not weather this storm as well.

I HAVE SEEN PICTURES OF THE DESTRUCTION AND MESS CAUSED BY THE STORM------SO MUCH TOTAL DESTRUCTION---NOT JUST A FEW BROKEN WINDOWS------I HEARD TWO OR THREE TOWNS WERE COMLETELY ERASED-----LIKE THEY NEVER WERE HERE AT ALL----------GOES TO SHOW YOU HOW SMALL MAN REALLY IS AND MAYBE WE SHOULD PUT A LITTLE MORE CREDANCE INTO A HIGHER BEING-----

Glad you are ok, Dragon. From what we saw from here, it would have been absolutely devestating for so many people.

Thanks, it was devastating for folks just one block away. I am three blocks from Ground Zero on one side and just three blocks from the East River on the other. Homes and businesses just one block away were under water. We now have power, running (cold) water and elevators running. Still no heat or hot water. One subway line is now running down here. We have pulled together as we did on 9/11. Availability of gasoline is problematic as we drive food and water to those who do not have it. The official governmental coordination has been fragmented although you would not know it to hear reports on the media. Those of us in the trenches know differently. Still, we perservere.
Your prayers are needed and appreciated.

From your lips to God's ear! Although it was tough the day of the storm it didn't have any significant affect here in Manhattan. Considering a move to Tahiti. :)
Thanks for thinking of me.
