Later on, when our membership grows, we will have a forum for auctions.
For right now, we can use the "Coins For Sale" forum for auctions, and I would like to have the honor of auctioning the first coin.
This is one of the most beautiful coins in my collection. The only reason I am willing to part with it is because it is a duplicate.
Here are the particulars.
French 50 Francs. 1979. Uncirculated. Obverse is Hercules Group. Designer: Augustine Dupre'. 30 gr., .9000, sil., .8682 oz., ASW. KM #941.1.
Starting bid: $15.00
Postage: $1
Auction ends this coming Friday at 12 noon, Mountain Time.
Post any questions you might have.

AdamL, your coin was mailed Saturday morning, and I would think it will probably arrive on Tuesday.
Thanks to all for making the first-ever new KOTCT auction a success.
I have a few other duplicates, and when I have time I'll round them up and auction them off.

Weirdly, I already have a coin like this a 50 franc i think it is dated 1977 however. It is a nice coin, but I think photos always have to be posted to make it a good auction. Also, why do people never like to post world airmail charges?
-
Coincrusader, is today a holiday or somethin? My bank and post office were closed. Well, I'll still have your check in the mail soon. I just need to buy some stamps and make a deposit.
:)

Matty, I think people never post airmail charges because they vary so much depending on which two countries are involved. :-/ Then there are the delivery extras, like insurance, registration, and everything varies that much more between the two countries involved in the mailing.
As for banks and post office closings, perhaps it has something to do with Veteran's Day?
-
I always thought it was around $4 ??
-
ahhhhh. veteran's day. I bet thats it.

AdamL, On the 11th day and the 11th hour, of November, 1917, the Germans surrendered to the Allies thus ending WWI. For many years, including when I was a kid, it was celebrated as "Armistice Day." It has since been changed to Veterans Day.
All post offices in the United States were closed.
Today is Tuesday, and I hope you have your coin.

Thanks for the history! And the auction. Yes, I got the coin, and posted about it in the European coins section. I didn't get your check in the mail untill today.
