Title: Australia cent gone
Post by: Pocketcoins on July 25, 2010, 01:32:53 PM
This is going to make me sound like a real coin expert. I didn't know until today when I was reading a post on a different forum about Canada thinking about doing away with it's cent that Australia had done away with there's. When did they do it? And how well was it accepted? The U.S. has been talking about doing away with there cent for many years but never have been able to manage it yet.

We haven't had one cent or two cent coins for nearly 20 years.
New Zealand have also done away with theirs, in fact they recently got rid of the 5 cent too.

I does not create any problems and is well accepted. Your shopping bill does not suddenly increase by $$.
It is only the total of the shopping basket that is rounded up or down. Sometime you win, sometimes to lose,
but it is only a maximum of 2 cents one way or the other.
