I've gone and done a silly thing.

I've gotten an account at Omnicoins, for which to store online photographs of my coin collection. Now, I see no reason to go and put every single coin I own in it, but I do plan to keep adding coins periodically until I have most of them pictured.  (Most people don't want to wade through seventy six pictures of Canadian cents, when they almost all nearly look alike as it is.)

And, in doing so, I thought I'd share this news with you, the only people who might actually enjoy browsing. ;)

I'd love feedback on my collection.  The photography isn't always the greatest.. the film on the 2x2s sometimes reflects the camera, the lighting makes the two sides of the coins different colours... but I'm not trying to win a photo contest here.  I'm trying my hardest to get decent shots of close to ten thousand world (and US) coins online, quickly.

 :D

You have some real nice coin there Kitty.

I liked Page 5 they are good looking Silver from a great country...lol
-
				Beutiful coins, Ellekitty.

 Thanks for sharing.
I think you are going to have a lot fun getting all those coins of yours online.

I don't know about fun.  Give myself ulcers, perhaps. ;)  It takes a lot of time to photograph, then edit, and then upload each coin!  Sometimes I wonder if it's really worth it, but I know it is. Deep down in my fuzzy little kitty heart I love showing them off.  ^^

-
The photos are great Kitty, keep them coming ;)

 please

				Ellie,
I know just how you feel. I recently started an Omnicoins account as well, and it can be a tedious process.
Especially for me since I already loaded about 400 coin images on that.

If anyone is interested, feel free to browse. Some are not labeled properly, and a few are not coin related, but nothing weird...inless you don't like spiders. ;)

I really don't like spiders.  ^^ But I'll go look anyway.  As long as it isn't moving, it should be alright. ;)

-
I promise, it won't move. I was playing with the QX5, and put the pics on photobucket. It was dead already!!!

				ElleKitty;

Seriously you have a very nice collection.  I like the variety that varies from Tibetan and Bhutanese coins from early in the 20th century to modern unusual coins like this one:

I so need one of those.  I saw one of the farthing patterns once and loved it.

I can say for what you have there, nothing boring in the least, I really enjoyed looking at your collection tonight.
-
Dumanyu, that wasn't so bad. I just skipped over it very quickly. ;) You've got some lovely coins in your collection!  Some of them look familiar, and some of them make me want to whip out the checkbook to see what I can afford. :)

Scottish- thank you! It means a lot to me to know you enjoyed looking through.  You have a most impressive collection, in my opinion. :)

And, everyone-  I just finished putting up a bunch of my Russian coins.  And now, I'm headin' for bed. :D
-
I know nothing about Omnicoins, but I can see where a record of your coins could really come in handy for insurance purposes, if anything happened to them.

 ;) ;) ;) ;)
-
and what about if you go to a coin shop and see a coin you love, but you are not sure if you have it. Just borrow the store computer and go for a browse.
It is a great tool to have pics online.

Exactly why I have much of my collection online, in public viewing, and yes, private viewing pages. :o

I think that these square coins are neat!  Is their a possibility of someone down under helping me procure a couple of these?

				Dear Ellekitty:

Nice collection of wonderful coins.  I appreciate the patience with which you have done this job.  Great.

I love the 5 Lati coin of Latvia.

The 1813 Stiver in Copper is my issue.   Are you laughing??   It is GEORGE III  of BRITISH GUYANA.   B.Guyana was under British Rule till 1966 please.

 Kind regards
 Sincerely
 George/India
-
				:)

Thank you George.  I had listed it as unknown because the issuing authority is Essequibo & Demerary, both British Colonies.  I have updated it to belong to Guyana, now.

You have a nice collection , I have been at omni coin for a year or so as well as banknotebank.com .  I  have only scaned some of my coins , becuase that is a tuff task i can imagine taking photo's and editing the images is even far more tiresome.

 Hey, that's the FUN part, Jim  ;D ;D ;D
-
it is fun but i will take me years to scan everything

I hear you!  I've got another 150 odd coins pictured, but I need to go in and crop the ikky background out of them before I go posting.  and that probably won't happen this weekend... I'm off on yet another roadtrip to catch up with old friends! However, after that, I should settle down for a bit.  At least til American Thanksgiving weekend. ;)
