Title: Die test for experimental coin
Post by: NumisMatty on October 30, 2007, 02:51:40 PM
My first post on this forum of a coin I have in my collection. A uniface die test for a 25 Euro coin! I don't think Norway ever joined the Euro-usage club and this was purely experimental fantasy.... these are vanishingly rare - 100 pieces minted.

By the way Admin - is there any way I can make the photos smaller, besides photoshopping them as I don't have a program for that..

Matt....go to this website

    http://www.irfanview.com/

and download irfenview which is free.   This program allows you to re-size a picture.

*Droooools.*

That is indeed a beautiful piece. *sigh*  Us poor Americans are always a bit too late to get the really nice European stuff.

Cost me a bomb on ebay uk - about £22 with postage included  :o but the prices often went higher!
Seller was Cavendish Collectables and they may still have more if you look them up...

I found one on eBay.  ^^  I'll have to watch and see how much it goes for, and I'll also have to think hard about if I want to add this piece, Kitty or not.  I don't usually go for patterns or test pieces.

That looks like my cat when he's heard a strange noise and fluffs up his tail.  :)

^ Elle, there are also lower denominations and, or pieces which have the other side pressed as weell rather than being blank like this one.

How could Kitty pass up a Kitty regardless of the cost?

It would be really hard to do. I have a separate collection of just coins that feature felines, and I'm always looking to expand it. My issue here isn't the price, so much as it is the fact that this is a pattern or trial piece, and not a coin.  My collection is honestly made up of coins that have circulated, although I can't pass up the odd NCLT or bullion coin.  I can't make up my mind whether or not these test pieces would fit in or not.

Matty, I've just been so busy running around the state of Texas I haven't quite got your bundle together.  I did email you a scan last night of all the Non State Quarters I'd found for you though. :)  I'm ready to go, just ... moving really slow.

Hi Elle, haven't look at the emails yet. I understand with the being busy, don't worry, just wondered what was happening since you hadn't replied in over a week.  :-\ 8)

I still have no problem sending first as you did last time  ;D

Well alright then!  I'll bundle up these world coins, and then sort out another set of the quarters.  you go ahead and send what you've got (and I'm really looking forward to them too.)  and when I get myself in order I'll post out the coins I have for you. :D
