Nighthawk.. I don't know where you find all these great coins. About 80% of the local shows around here have been discontinued and the few larger ones remaining are a wasteland for dark side coins. About once a year I'll find an overpriced Crown or a bucket of junk coins at $1 each.. Come to think of it unless you like Morgans pickings are slim for just about anything else.

Richard, generally there is a show in the area where I live about every other weekend. As much as I love this hobby, sometimes I just get "coin-showed-out". However, around here you mostly see dealers with U.S. coins, and very few dealers with foreign stuff, which is what I like to collect the most. I only have 2 dealers who carry foreign coins that I really trust, and they are always on the lookout for me for interesting things. Also if I don't have the cash, they are both willing to trade for items I want. This is a good set up I think. We also have very good sized auctions at the 2 local coin clubs that I belong to. One of the auctions usually has quite a bit of foreign stuff, just when I have very little money. :( I also just recently finished up selling off a deceased friends collection, which took me about 18 months worth of going to shows, auctions, etc.. and as payment for my services, the family allowed me to pick and choose any items I wanted from his collection instead of paying me cash. This gentleman had TONS of foreign stuff, of which I was only more than happy to add to my collection. I am currently in the process of selling another gentlemans collection, mostly low-grade, common U.S. coins, but nowhere near the size of the previous collection I sold. So this is basically how I find all this neat stuff! :)

John, if you are selling off these collection, where are the auctions on this forum??

Steve, when I mentioned auctions, I sold very, very little at club auctions. The best way I found to liquidate these collections was to take them to shows and sell there. Maybe I should put some of my stuff up for auction? I just might give it a try! :)
