I thought I might start a thread showing 1 year type coins from around the world. These are coins produced for only 1 YEAR. Many F.A.O. coins fall into this category, but I have them posted in another thread. Please feel free to post your 1 year types here also, F.A.O. or otherwise. Dust off those coins and start posting! :) First: Niue, a New Zealand Dependent State, from a series of 5 Dollar coins, titled "Defender's of Freedom", General Douglas MacArthur, 1989, KM# 22 ;D
-
Niue, 5 Dollars, 1990 General Dwight D. Eisenhower, KM# 29 ;D
-
Niue, 5 Dollars, 1990 General George S. Patton, KM# 31 ;D
-
Common obverse of coins above, showing Niue coat of arms. ;D

The 1966 Aussie 50c
This was the only year that the round 50c was released for circulation.

I THINK THE COIN HONORING BANJO PATERSON WAS A ONE YEAR COIN---

While it is NOT a circulating coin the 2006 Canadian one half ounce WOLF bullion coin is the only bullion coin that I am aware of that was cancelled after only one year. Canadian officials stated the coin sold well at just over 200,000 coins but their goal was 250,000 to be considered a huge success. Personally I think they made a HUGE mistake as sales on Ebay at this time put a full ounce price on a half ounce coin. I really like the half ounce Wolf and will continue to buy them if their price would come back down to earth! While many collectors prefer full ounce coins when silver climbs the half ounce becomes a staple for those who have less to spend on bullion coins. If you will check Ebay, at this time, you will notice numerous auctions for 1 gram bars and coins. Who in the world would buy 1 gram bullion coins or bars? I think these auctions are misleading hoping to catch unaware buyers who just don't read the fine print. If I remember correctly it would take 32 of these miniatures to make an ounce? Throw in the shipping charges and there is NO way one could ever come out ahead on this junk!

Thanks for the nice comments Steve. Yes, there are MANY, MANY one year types out there. This thread could go on forever indeed! I have lots and lots of them, and I just thought others might enjoy viewing some of them from time to time. This is one way of sharing our collections with others of like mind, by posting pictures and/or information about different world coins that are out there. I also want people to understand that if you have one year type coins in your collection, please feel free to post them on this thread, because I don't want someone to think that this is "Nighthawk's personal thread". This forum belongs to ALL of us, and I just LOVE looking at other folks' collections to see what they collect. BTW, nice coin Steve! Thanks for sharing! :)

Hey Nighthawk I flew my Corsair night before last! Put her up twice in a nasty wind but she sliced right through it. Tried this morning but high winds kept me on the ground. Have a new P-51 with a 58 inch wing span and nitro engine that was supposed to see the sky for the first time today. Kept that on the ground as well. Maybe this evening or tomorrow? :'(
-
Richard, I'm drooling all over my keyboard! All very beautiful coins.
-
I am VERY fond of silver crowns! When searching Ebay thats usually where I start! ;D
Nevol that drool will really be hard to get out of that keyboard!
-
Richard, if you would like to trade for that coin, then just an assortment from Brazil or nearby would be OK.
The value is US$12.
Anything that I don't have in my gallery would be fine, circulating coins only please.

After about a week's worth of DROOL, I just take my keyboard outside and spray it down good with my garden hose, and then tumble dry on low heat in the wife's clothes dryer for 20 minutes!!! (A microwave oven works good for that too. About 2 minutes on high temp. Kills all the germs your greasy little fingers leave behind too!!) ::) ::) ::)

Yeah, those Israeli coins are pretty cool. They came in a set (a mint set dated 1985) with about 6 or 7 other coins that I paid $1.50 for at a local show recently. As a matter of fact, the price was so good I bought 2 sets off the guy!!!
