Every time I do a little digging I always end up holding my 1797 Great Britain penny. That  ounce of copper has to be where the term cartwheel actually came from. This coin is so huge the folks living back then complained long and hard about the size and weight! Have a very nice example of the largest cent ever minted in the world!!! And, rumor has it, they make great hockey pucks!

You wanna see a real hockey puck:

The Birmingham Workhouse threepences of 1813 are the largest circulating medium ever made in Great Britain, weighing in at 2 1/2 oz.  These were possible only due to Matthew Boulton's steam powered minting presses.  Incredibly there were plans for a sixpence in copper also, but only a few trial strikes were produced and it was determined that it would be easier and more cost effective to issue the tanners in silver instead.

Decent ones go for about 150 pounds or so in Britain, usually these look like they were literally used like hockey pucks.
