F.A.O is part of the United Nations, the Food and Agriculture Organization.(http://typesets.wikidot.com/local--files/f-a-o-coins/FAO_logo.gif)
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information, and helps developing countries and countries in transition modernise and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices, ensuring good nutrition and food security for all. Its Latin motto, fiat panis, translates into English as "let there be bread". As of 8 August 2008[update], FAO has 191 members states along with the European Community and the Faroe Islands, which are associate members
In 1968, the F.A.O. started a “Money and Medals†program to help spread its message of the urgent need to increase food and agricultural production. Since this time, hundreds of different coins throughout the world have been issued to spread the message and has also created a unique world coin type set for collectors.
To date there have been more than 600 coins. Even though it is a modern set, it’s far from being an affordable set for most collectors. F.A.O. coins come in all shapes, sizes, denominations, and compositions (including gold).

Yep some of us are looking ;)
Here is one you have not listed and this time I looked in my Krause instead of trying to decipher the coin.
Botswana 1976 FAO Thebe Y#3

Nice coin Richard! However I don't see it listed as an F.A.O. coin type in Krause. Here's a pic of my coin ;D
-
Reverse ;D
-
Krause does not list all the FAO coins. Got mine from a late FAO coin collector who I trusted to know what he was talking about. But hey I have been known to accept bad info before.
-
http://fao-coins.info/
might be worth a look unless its your site of coarse.
1 Thebe can be found here

I do look. :) Been looking for a somewhat uncommon FAO coin to share. Saw this one last night on my Omnicoin account- St. Tome e Principe. Rotten picture, nice coin.

Richard, I looked at the links you posted, and they list quite a few F.A.O. coins for Botswana. But looking in all 3 Krause catalogs that I own (1983, 2004, 2009) there is nothing in their descriptions indicating that the coins are F.A.O. issues. Most F.A.O. coins will say " F.A.O.", or "World Food Day", or "Food For All" or something of the kind on the coin. The nearest thing I see to an F.A.O. coin is the 2 Thebe, 1981 & 1985 KM# 14, where the description says "World Food Day". I dunno. Maybe your friend was right, and Krause does not have enough info in their descriptions. :) The pictures' fine Miss Kitty! Nice coin too! :)
-
I scanned through the earlier posts, but I didn't see any from Tonga there. So if they've been posted already, apologies!
