Title: For nuggethill, Nighthawk, and Templar
Post by: CoinCrusader42 on August 08, 2009, 04:43:38 PM
Hi Guys,

We just now returned from a camping (trailer camper) trip to Ridgway Reservoir.

Looking at my e-mails, I saw each of you wrote me.

Let me respond to each of you.

nuggethill:  I do have the 1966 coin, however I have grandkids who collect Australian coins -- so would love to have it.

Nighthawk:  I would like the book and will be happy to pay expenses.  I have a complete set of World Book Year Books, however they started in 1962.

Just advise the cost and I'll either PayPal or send a check.

Templar,  We have something in common, both of us being former history teachers.  The Utes inhabited our part of Colorado before they were moved out in about 1882,  Ouray was a Ute cheif, and the most influential of the Utes.  He bargained with the Government, and often got what he was after.  His wife was named Chipeta, and she also was a highly intelligent person, and a spokesperson for her people.  Just today, in driving back from Ridgway, we passed the museum which honors Ouray and Chipeta.  The town of Ouray is nessled in a canyon at the base of the San Juans.  The "Million Dollar Highway" starts there and goes over the San Juans, taking the traveler to Durango and Cortez.  Ouray is absolutely beautiful (what with mountains and waterfalls), but is becoming "touristy," and now is too expensive for the average person to build a home and live there.

Thanks for writing me.

Gary, I can send the book media mail. It's probably the cheapest way, unless you want it shipped some other way. The book is free, just reimburse me for postage & $1 for a bubble mailer. I don't use paypal, so either a check or money order, or pay me in some kind of coins of your choice. Whatever you decide, I'll be happy. Thanks. :)
