Title: New JFK Half Dollar
Post by: CoinCrusader42 on May 17, 2009, 07:34:07 AM
I would like an opinion, if someone would care to venture one.

Yesterday, I went into a convenience store, and the clerk who knows I enjoy coins told me I could have a Kennedy Half Dollar that was in the register.  I thanked her and bought it.

It is a 1992 Philadelphia.  What makes it interesting is that it is about perfect.  No dings or flaws.  Well struck, and as shiny as when it was minted.

Of course, its value isn't all that great, but it causes me to wonder how it got into circulation.  Any ideas?

 :) :) :) :)

Someone may have stolen it. Or inheirited a collection and cashed it in. Or maybe they cut up a mint set?

I get a lot of Kennedy's from the bank in rolls and it seems to me that almost all are either really badly worn or in close to unc condition. I think a lot are keep up in sets for a while then turned in to the bank for the cash.
