I picked this coin up tonight at the coin club.  I know so little about US coins it's almost embarrassing, and I know that nohope is our resident expert.  I was hoping he might tell me if there is anything overly special about this coin?  The only detail I can give is that the reverse die is rotated 180 degrees so that the coin has a medallion orientation.

Hope ya'll enjoy!  I'm proud of my first 2 cent piece. :D

Rotated dies are fairly common on the 1864. That being said cleaning is rampant with this series. Yours appears to be original. So despite the slight damage it is a solid G4 (or eBay Fine) It also has a complete 'D' in united so its an early strike in the series as the upper serif is missing on most of the series. The narrowness of the lines on the 4 also indicate and early strike. The dates were re-cut/punched several times causing the numbers to become enlarged as the number of coins grew until the dies disintegrated.

Nice coin and a good start to a hard series to finish..

Whoohoo!

Thanks for the run-down, Nohope!  Glad to know that I have a nice coin even if she isn't in perfect condition.  :)
