Title: Quarter plus hammer and a few blood blisters...
Post by: NoHope587 on April 05, 2009, 11:36:55 AM
So I had this really ratty looking 1964 Quarter and a hammer.

Here is what I did today some of you will no doubt be horrified by the results.

Looks like I need to find a way to buff it up nice and shiny to finish it.

I found a bent holed WL half in my junk silver draw.
Still needs to be polished and could do with some more shaping but turned it into a size 14 ring.

How did you do that with just a hammer?

Steel pipe for the size of the final product a mandrill would be better but they cost money...
Nylon hammer
Vice grips and a dremmel

Drill out the center of the coin place on top of pipe and beat the edges down around the pipe.
Shave off the top with a cutter disc and beat the rim smooth.

Use the dremmel to polish

Nice, I like it. I have "spooned" quite a few coins into rings, but I could never figure out how to keep the design on both sides. Now I know! Gonna have to give it a shot with the next "junk" half dollar I find.
