Title: Thank you Australian friends
Post by: EgCollector on March 23, 2009, 10:21:54 PM
I would like to thank triggersmob, humpybong and buda for trying to help me with my US collection.
You are very generous and helpful friends.

They sent me coins to fill some gaps in my collection that unfortunately did not make it to Egypt  :(

But their good intentions and generosity make me proud to be a member of the KOTCT family, and the least thing i can say is;

THANK YOU

 :) :) :)

Maybe they got to Egypt but someone there wanted them more than you.

Always happy to help a friend

I am really disappointed that the coins went astray.
Especially considering the great coins you sent me.

 :( :( :(

Just a suggestion EgCollector.  I read in another thread that you sometimes get coins delivered to a friend in the USA.

Ask that friend if they would mind you getting all your coins, whether purchases, trades, or gifts sent to them and you collect them all at the same time.

I know it would be a long time till you see/get them, but at least you will get them eventually.  8)

I only used this option when the package is too heavy like a krause catalog that will cost me shipment fees more than what i paid for it. So i purchase it from a US seller "online" and place the address of my friend. So i only pay for shipment inside US only and save some money.
I cant ask a member who is sending me a gift from Australia to pay more money for shipment to US instead of Egypt.  :-[ He is generous enough to send me the coins for free and pay the postage.

I have been sending and receiving coins (for three years now) to many countries and the packages have always reached their destination safely to Egypt and to all the other countries.
I lost only one package that i once sent, and it was to US. I know the reason which was simply i sent it with regular mail. It was to ScoutJim, who most of us know, and whom i hope he will get well soon.

I received and sent more than one package before from humpybong and triggersmob without any problems, and from many other Australian friends.
I dont know what or where is the problem this time, and off coarse i will never know.
But this is of less importance than to Thank those generous and helpful friends.
I always say that the good intentions are the most important thing.  :)

I am waiting for some coins, sent to me from Mortyr2012. Marvin from Germany, who asked an American friend of him to send it first to germany as a part of a trade then send them to me with some other coins.

I knew that it is a difficult job to collect US coins while living in Egypt, and may be a mission impossible to complete any set, but this is the fun of coin collecting.

You will never collect all coins, but while trying to, you will know many wonderful and great friends like KOTCT members.  ;)

Amr, is it any better if the mail is registered?

The problem is that Australia Post will not send packages overseas registered.

I find that if I insure for $100 (the minimum amount for cost of about $8) it gets to the destination.

You can insure for less but the cost is the same.

Thanks Humpy'

On the bright side, I sent some coins to Marvin in Germany last week and they have arrived OK.
Hope he enjoys them.
