There are a lot of the above coins for bid on eBay. Somewhere I read that they were illegal to sell (bid) in some European countries.....Austria is one of them I believe. If this is true, are there other countries?
-
The only countries I know that ban Third reich items are Austria, France, Germany and Italy.
-
In some European countries you can only auction thru eBay if the swastika has been covered up.
I collect these and have had no trouble obtaining many of the coins I am after
-
Thanks for the info everyone. I was just curious, and I also collect them.....but only the 2 & 5 Mark coins.
-
I'm sorry but you're partly wrong :P
In Germany it's forbidden to sell third reich items to persons who believe in hitler, eg. skinheads, and these guys.
Selling coins is not forbidden, because guys who buy them, are only interested in coins, not in hitler.

But,then, how would you know who you were selling to...anyone can say they hate hitler, but,in reality worship him!!!!

Also 'partly' wrong .. ;)
It's not forbidden to sell these coins that wear a swastika on ebay, because they are a part of history (even it's a very disgraceful part of German history) and therefore protected by certain German laws that I don't exactly now right now. This topic has been discussed in a German forum, too, and the result was, that these coins are no items that makes propaganda for Nazism.
The swastika itself is forbidden to wear in Germany, so it's not allowed to wear swastika buttons or to wave a flag that wears the swastika ;)
Hope this helps!

Now, as I heared flag ;D
I remember that old story, of that ex-nazi who has been given a flag to at the cementery, so they exhume him( don't know if that word is right, they put the flag out of his grave)
That shows, that they are strict with these things.
But, coins can be selled, because the numismatic interesst is higher, than the interest in nazis. Of course it is possible that nazis buy them, but what will they do with it?
Put it on Prince William's uniform? that sign is only 2mm big ;)

I troll ebay germany daily
You can post and sell coins when the swastika is blacked out (with a round circle)
-
You're right, there's something with the pictures on ebay, I don't know exactly, but I can hardly remember, that there was something with a guy who put pictures in, without blackmarking the signs.

Against policy elmajo does not even bother to cover up the swastika on her goldplated crap
