Title: Shark Attack Victim
Post by: Bonedigger on December 27, 2008, 07:56:43 AM
For those in around Perth who may have known him, please extend my deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Brian Guest...  :(  One thing I do recall from my 1982 visit was to heed the warnings about large sharks in the water around Western Australia...

Heartfelt Condolences
Ben

I did not know Brian, but I join you in extended sympathy to the family and friends.

Personally, I never go swimming at the beach, here in Perth.
You are no longer at the top of the food chain, once you step in the water.

Now we're never going to get any tourists. :(

Well, my brother visited Perth 10, perhaps 15 years ago. And my new neighbour spent 6 months there after college (again, 10-15 years ago).  ;)
But yes, if Germans visit Australia, prime destinations are Sydney/Melbourne, the Outback and the Great Barrier Reef.

Well, the american TV series ''Justified'' suggests that rural Kentucky is a very dangerous place  ;D ;)

"Justified" was supposed to have taking place in Harlan Co. Ky. which is the county where I live. They did shoot some of the show here. The town you see when the show starts is Harlan, but that is about the only thing real about it.

Yes a few big fish getting around out here but it is their habitat so maybe they need to make better deterrents/repellents like those one's that send out electric pulses but they're everywhere and bullsharks are the one's you really have to watch as they go up the rivers and canals but we do have heaps of nasties out here and most of them oddly enough are small but will kill you real quick, snakes, spiders and jellyfish and blue ring octopus just to name a few but don't let that put you off visiting..we also have Steve  :D
