For rating VG8, 'WE' weakly visible

For G-4, Atleast IN GOD visible

May I grade it G-6

You may grade it how ever you like. But you might want to pay careful attention as this is not just and 1864.

Prototype patterns dated 1863 and early 1864 Proofs were struck with a small letter legend. The first business strikes of 1864 were produced from dies made from the same Small Letter variety hub.

Is this correct?  It seems to be the only variation on the basic design that I can find.  A lovely acquisition if so!  Congratulations. How many of these do you have in your collection?

More than I care to admit to. Coins dated 1864 =2003 of which 1904 are the regular large motto type. I am still missing 4 varieties of the small motto and 22 varieties of the large motto some of which less than 5 have been discovered. It seems like a large amount of coins but keep in mind most are G4 at best.

OH me wants me wants...
That's one nice coin there nothing jumps out variety wise. the D on united seems to have complete serifs usually the upper one is missing or partial.
Check for tool marks and or doubling around the date.
