Nothing to do yesterday afternoon, so I went and got $50 worth of 20c pieces from the bank. Wasn't even looking for anything in particular, which was good, as there wasn't anything worth keeping, except a couple of 2008s in good nick.
So still bored, I had another look, and noticed a heap of dates. Out of that $50 worth, I put together a set that was only missing the CoF comms, the bradman and the UN. It was also missing '71 and '85. That was it. So I looked a little harder, and pulled out the loupe.
I added to the set both mints for '66, a Canberra and Canada '81, missing Wales '81. I added an I spaced, RB joined and IRB joined 2001, missing I R B spaced and added a small SD reverse. There were no big head 2004, but there was a fat 7 and thin 7 2007s.
I think that was a great way to kill an hour or so, and I was prety amazed I could put together all those dates and varieties out of one lot of coins.

At first I thought, "Oh oh, now latman's found a wavy as well". :P but sadly, not the case. :'(
It just goes to show what you missed first time going through them. ::)

So true Nancy, I have been neglecting my Aussie collection lately in favour of foreign coins. I think it is good practice just to have a look to keep your eye in. This set will probably either go back to the bank, or maybe traded.

I was thinking the same thing :) Still sounds like an interesting group!

Me too.... But does that mean you found the mint sets only ones as well? :O

No mint set only. I don't count them as part of our circulating currency, so don't mention them when talking about circulating coins.
And one day I will be able to post here that I found a wavy, only might be in a nursing home by then :)

I thought so too, but as you just demonstrated, there are lots of varieties and errors out there just waiting to be found.
