My coin dealer is a great person, and I'm lucky to have such a fine store withing a fairly short drive.
However, after several months, she has been unable to fill an order for me which I am very anxious to receive.
I have a complete set of all Australian circulating coins, and all EXCEPT ONE are housed in Dansco Albums.
What I don't have is the album for Australian $1 coins.
I know they are made because I have seen them listed among the other Aussie albums made by Dansco.
So, I would appreciate suggestions as to where I can order one.
I believe I have the coins to fill it, and sure would like to get my hands on one.
Suggestions?
Thanks!
:D :D :D :D

I use Valleycoin.com (http://www.valleycoin.com/product_info.php?products_id=17573)
I've gotten all my Aussie albums from them and the $1 album is actually next on my list too.
-
Arthrene,
I like the site.
I attempted to order the album on-line, but couldn't get it to go through.
I'll call the company in the morning, and make the order.
:D :D :D :D
-
I tried to order one last night as well. It appears they are out of stock but it wouldn't hurt to call the company anyway. Maybe they can tell you when they'll be getting more in. Let me know if you find anything out.
-
I called Valley Coin today, and they didn't have any.
So, I'm back to Square One.
And again asking for suggestions.
Maybe I'll look up Downies telephone number, and give them a try.
:D :D :D :D
-
Couldn't find a phone number for Downies, so I e-mailed them.
Hope I hear back.
Meanwhile, other suggestions would be appreciated.
:D :D :D :D

Did you try Bigfella?
-
Steve,
We think alike.
Just got a PM response from Bigfella, and while he doesn't have one currently. he can likely get one for me. He asked for my address so that he can calculate shipping costs.
So, maybe I'll eventually get those dollars into a proper home!!
:D :D :D :D
-
Hi Gary,
If you are still interested, Downies phone number is 1 877 897 7696
at Newport Beach CA 92660.
regards,
-
Thanks Bob,
If shipping is too much from Bigfella, I'll give them a call.

Here's the latest in the on-going saga regarding my attempt to get a Dansco Album for my Aussie dollars.
Just received an e-mail from Downies giving prices for two different kinds of dollar albums. Problem is, the numbers didn't match what I have on my Dansco price list.
I'm guessing the cheaper album is for circulation dollars, and the pricey one is for ALL dollars.
So, back to Square One.
:D :D :D :D
-
Up-Date.
Just got a reply from Downies.
Cost is $70, plus about $10 more for shipping. Too pricey.
My Dansco price list gives the cost at $27.95.
So, I guess my next step will be to call Dansco on Tuesday.
:D :D :D :D

Hmmm, Methinks there's something amiss there. Are you after a push in type album like Rusty's or a Dansco Supreme with the 2 layers of slide out plastic film that protects both sides of the coins? The price you've been quoted sounds like the cost of a Dansco Supreme to me. Any one else think the same?
Rusty, how much was your $1 album?
-
I have 18 Dansco Albums, all of them are the type with the plastic on both sides of the coin.
The cost has always ranged from about $21.95 to $29.95.
So, I continue to be confused.
:D :D :D :D
-
rusty's album is a supreme one
just brought one the other day and it cost me $70.00
-
OK. I figured it was a Supreme. Don't see why there would be such a huge price difference between US & OZ though. ??? ::)
-
All Dansco Supreme albums are around $64 - $68 at my local dealers; Recently noticed many of them selling on ebay (US sellers) for around $18 - $25. Even with postage etc, makes a BIG difference. ......... wish I knew about the price difference earlier!
-
How about....? Dansco #7339

Hey Mila, Thanks for those links. I've just ordered 7 Australian Albums for a cost of US$194.21 or Au$207.47 and that includes postage of over US$55. I've wanted these for a while but was VERY reluctant to pay upwards of $70 each for them, as the 7 could have ended up costing me around $490.
At less than half the Australian prices, they're a bargain! I ordered them from Jake's & although the total cost of just the albums would have been less from The Shawnee Coin Company, I prefer to have separate albums where possible & theirs combine the 5¢ & 10¢ in one album & the 20¢ & 50¢ in another, so 5 albums from them would be US$130.15 plus whatever they charge for postage.
IMHO, any Aussies using these albums would be far better off getting them from the US. The freight didn't seem to change as I added more albums, so it seems the more you order the cheaper they get per item. ;D ;D
I'm one happy little Vegemite! :) ;) :D ;D 8) :P :-* I'll let everyone know when they arrive & if I run into any problems.
These are my order details:

Great information.
I'll probably order later on tonight.
Thanks!!
:D :D :D :D
-
You're Welcome.
Glad I was able to help.
mila ;D
-
Ordered mine from Jake's.
Hope it arrives soon as those little dollars are anxious to settle into a new home.
:D :D :D :D
-
ordered my albums. thanks for the tip mila
ps mila pm your addy
-
WHY Nancy!
That's quite a collection of Dansco's you'll have soon.
I guess the cent Dansco album I sent- spoiled you, uh? ;D
mila ;)
-
Mila, You sure did! Like I said, even with $56 for freight they're still half the price I'd pay here in OZ.
-
Although I'm still waiting for my dollar album to arrive, I am happy to have found a source for them.
I think $10 postage for a book of a few ounces is over the top, but I have waited for so many months to get this album, I'm more than willing to pay it.
;) ;) ;) ;)
-
What is so good about Dansco Albums.....are they airtight, do they stop the coins from toning.
Have no idea if these are better than 2 X 2 's and if so why.
So many questions......so little time to collect.
-
I know I prefer the Dansco Albums to 2x2s in this case for my special collections. it's so much easier to drag my pennies about in the album rather than in a little box, or in plastic pages in a 3 ring binder. They look so much nicer in the clean pages, rather than all trapped in those little white squares.
I really have got to order me a few more of these. I think I can fill the decimal albums up, 1 cent to 50 cent (without all the NCLTs) but the ones I really want to work on are the predecimals!
-
Well, my Danscos' just got cheaper. I received an Email this morning advising me that Jake's have refunded me $7.31 due to an overcharge for postage, & PayPal have credited me with $7.81. Woohoo. I'm rich!. ;)
-
I really prefer to pull an album off of a shelf, rather that dig through individual 2X2's.
Obviously, Dansco Albums aren't air tight, however, the only coin of mine which I can see has toned is a 1964 Kennedy Half.
When I started collecting I always bought Whitman, but for various reasons I switched to Dansco quite a few years ago.
:) :) :) :)
-
Gee Nevol.....you can go out and buy another coin or two.
Ebay...PayPal.....refund....just does not seem to go together
-
Nancy,
Will be interested to hear when your albums arrive as to whether they have fixed up the labelling of the dollar album. The one I got a while ago missed a few of the dollars and added ones that don't exist. I've ended up getting the plain unlabelled pages for the dollar collection.
-
I'll let you know when they arrive if there's any problems.
-
I'll be checking the mailbox on Monday. Assuming the order to Jake's went through with no problem, it's about time for the album to arrive.
:) :) :) :)
-
Gary, Did you receive one of these from Jake's Marketplace?
"This is an automated message acknowledging successful initial processing of your order placed on the World Wide Web."
-
Nevol, Yes I did.
:D :D :D :D
-
Oh well, I guess we just have to wait & see whose albums arrive first. :D Somehow I can't see it being mine though. ;D At least we're both stimulating the US economy hey?
-
Nevol, That's for sure.
Mailbox contained nothing numismatically today (Tuesday). Will hope the album arrives tomorrow.
:D :D :D :D
-
Thanks for the links Mila! I ordered some from Jake's last Thursday (I think). Got my $1 album and a $2 album while I was at it.
I posted the link for Valley Coin earlier and ended up sending them an email. Apparently they're having difficulty obtaining them from Dansco at the moment.
-
Received a message to let me no my package has been posted on the 4th, placed order on the 29th of may so will let you no how long it take.
i cannot believe they charge Aussie $70 per book
-
I have received two e-mail messages from Jake's, stating the album is on its way.
Nothing in today's mail. Hopefully tomorrow.
:D :D :D :D
-
I received an Email from Jake's advising my order was shipped 4 Jun 08 by USPS Priority Mail International. Will keep everyone posted on progress.
-
I received my $1 and $2 Aussie albums from Jakes in the mail today. Now I gotta get busy and fill them!
-
Still waiting.
Maybe Monday.
:D :D :D :D
-
That is why it is called "snail mail"
;D
-
It's here!!!!
My Australian One Dollar Dansco Album arrived in today's mail, and I noted that Jake's even took a couple dollars off of the shipping charge.
I'm very happy to have the album, and even though today is my busiest day of the week, I'll try and find some time to start filling the album.
A long wait, but I'm sure glad it's here.
:D :D :D :D
-
I reckon my albums are at my local PO waiting for me. Delivery was attempted on Fri but I was out all day, and Mon was a Public Holiday, so I'll be picking them up later this morning. (Tues)
If it is in fact my albums, posted 29 May & arrived 6 June, that's not bad for a large parcel from the US. The USPS track & confirm site says delivery was attempted on 4 June, but the notice in my letterbox is dated 6 June.
-
I picked my albums up yesterday & they had actually been at the PO since 4 June. I just wasn't notified till 6th for some weird reason. Anyhow, they made the trip OK. :D
The $1 album does have an awful lot of spaces I won't be filling though, it's got spaces for Mint Set Only Coins + nearly all Mint mark coins but the biggest dissappointment is that it cuts out at 2002 with 4 blank spaces plus another page of blanks.
Hello, no updates for 6 years. Which century are we supposed to be in?
I'm having a long think about whether to use the pages it's got or to buy blank ones & label them myself, that way I'll only use the ones I need. I could just re-label all the spaces & save some money that way. ??? The first 3 spaces are the only ones that will be correct, 84, 85, & 86.
I suppose if I'm going to label spaces myself, I might as well use what I've got, as I have no other use for the pages. It'll just look a bit 'unprofessional', that's all.
Can anyone reccommend a good label maker?
Both the 5¢ & 10¢ albums go up to 2013: 20¢ up to 2003 with another 15 blank spaces: 50¢ up to 2003 with one blank page & $2 up to 2011 with 8 blank spaces.
Does anyone have any preferences regarding slip covers. I can't decide if I should get them or not. ::)
-
Nevol and I have similar situations. My album is probably about the same, except it goes through 2003.
Today, while volunteering at the hospital gift shop, I worked on, and completed, my dollar album.
My mind changed several times.
At first I thought I would just do a year set -- one coin for every year. Then, when I opened the album and looked at all those holes to fill, I actually felt a challenge. For a few minutes I thought "What the heck, I'm going for it all. I can do it!"
Then reality started to set in.
I changed my mind.
What I ended up doing was to go the year set route. I have a coin for every year from 1984 through 2008. Then, using the last page, which consists of 16 unlabeled spaces, I put in those coins which had different reverses than the ones I used in the first two pages.
So, for many collectors, my idea of a "set" probably wouldn't agree with their idea. But, I'm happy with it, and I think the coins look real nice in the new album.
I will have to do some labeling, and will probably just print off what I need and then tape the information on the pages.
I now have complete (depending on your definition) sets of all decimal circulating Australian coins.
:D :D :D :D

Can anyone reccommend a good label maker?
I've been using a Brother P Touch labeller for mine. Actually I just finished labelling my $1 album (I used the blank pages) and it looks good! Because I had the blank pages, I was able to use the clear label tape with black writing.
-
My album also goes through 2003 but is missing the 2003 Women's Suffrage label. At the moment I'm trying to fill in all the holes but that could change sometime. Well see how my trades go.

This is the Postal Address of Dansco Album Manufacturing Co.,

E-mail: DanscoCorp@aol.com
If you will kindly order, they will manufacture and send you, I believe. Here, I wish to say, there is a lot of price difference between U.S..A and Australia.
I believe it is lot cheaper in U.S., The price you have mentioned is normal and I got them even cheaper.
Recently I got the Dansco Album for Presidential Dollars. I like this Album, very much. There are Wonderful Photos of Presidents., small note on them. Very Beautiful Album, to own.
