Title: 2008 Centenary of Quarantine (AQIS) $1 Coin
Post by: Humpybong on April 27, 2008, 10:36:27 PM: 2008 marks the centenary of the signing of the Quarantine Act in 1908 - the legislation that provided the basis for human, plant and animal quarantine in Australia.

The Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) detector dog (the beagle) is depicted as being on-duty, protecting Australia from pests and diseases by detecting food, plants, animals and their products in passengers bags. Our nation is represented in a luggage shape with travel/luggage stickers identifying the key hazard and protection issues for AQIS.

This coin will be released on May 1st and is presented in a colour pack. The release price is AUD12.95

I have ordered 15 of these and 6 have already gone, so if you would like one of the coins I have left, let me know, you can have them at cost plus postage.

The 2008 circulation coin will be the Centenary of Scouting $1 which is also due to be released on May 1.

We also have a 2008 $1 MOR (mob of roos) so far!

Very nice coin and the subject matter is great, but the $10 worth of coloured cardboard that came with it a bit pricey.

Still have to have one for my collection so just have to grin and bear it.
