2008 marks the centenary of the signing of the Quarantine Act in 1908 - the legislation that provided the basis for human, plant and animal quarantine in Australia.
The Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) detector dog (the beagle) is depicted as being on-duty, protecting Australia from pests and diseases by detecting food, plants, animals and their products in passengers bags. Our nation is represented in a luggage shape with travel/luggage stickers identifying the key hazard and protection issues for AQIS.
This coin will be released on May 1st and is presented in a colour pack. The release price is AUD12.95
I have ordered 15 of these and 6 have already gone, so if you would like one of the coins I have left, let me know, you can have them at cost plus postage.

Sorry
Not my cup of tea ::)
-
I'really liked the design.
Is it going to be in circulation as well?
-
No...this will not be a circulation coin.
The 2008 circulation coin will be the Centenary of Scouting $1 which is also due to be released on May 1.
We also have a 2008 $1 MOR (mob of roos) so far!
-
Humpybong, did you mean 'Centenary of SCOUTS'? as the circulating coin?
-
Oops....yep that is what I meant.
-
Barry, I'd love to have one of these, although I may not be able to pay you for it for another week or so. :)
-
Not worried at all kitty......the coin will only be released from the mint on 1st May, so I may not get them for a week anyway.
You will need to email me you new address though so I can send it to you.
-
The Centenary of Quarantine coins have arrived and I will be sending to those of you who ordered.
I still have a few left if anyone else wants one.
Kitty, still waiting on your reply to my emails......what other coins are you after?
-
Received my AQIS coins yesterday but at a cost of $12.95 each, thought the price was a bit steep.
Very nice coin and the subject matter is great, but the $10 worth of coloured cardboard that came with it a bit pricey.
Still have to have one for my collection so just have to grin and bear it.

What a thing to commemorate. ::)

Here kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty......where are you kitty.......still waiting on a reply to my emails.
