Lately it seems like many of my eBay experiences are swimming with the Tidy Bowl man in Sir Thomas's Crapper. :-[ Non responsive sellers, slow shipments(currently waiting on one from England that has been over a month) etc.
...So are they going for paypal insurance only and more protection ? Anything like this happening in the US or Australia ?
...So are they going for paypal insurance only and more protection ? Anything like this happening in the US or Australia ?
Worse. Australia is being forced to use Paypal as the only payment option when using feebay. For some reason Paypal Australia has extra fees for just about everything and is troublesome, glitchy and painfully slow clearing e-checks. The result being many sellers and buyers have quit feebay and use the alternate Australian auction site Oztion.
If someone made some comment to me about my relatives in Germany, I can honestly say, they were bombed out in 1943 during the raid on Hamburg. How would that be for a comeback? :o
Given the alleged collaboration of the Belgian King with the fascists, they should have stuck to pummelling royal palaces only, that way collateral damage would be minimized.
Yeah you got that with foreign imports no quality
If I remember correctly we got independant in 1830 and only found a king in 1831 cause the job was not intresting or maybe not well paid
Why do you think they call that company with the yellow sea shell logo - "Royal Dutch Shell"? ;D
You're an awfully nice relative to hand out a €500 note to a kid. Once I gave my daughter a $100 bill for her birthday, I think it was her 12th. She didn't believe it was real(she knows I like to play practical jokes), I had to convince her it really was real.
My sister in laws husband is one of five boys, no girls. Each of those five boys has only had girls so far, my sister in law has three girls. I think sometimes people keep having children because they want either a boy or a girl finally, but mother nature has last laugh. I have one boy and two girls. I am glad I have a son, because if I had only daughters I would be in funny farm on serious meds.
Since nobody accepts these notes in a shop I wanted to scan it for myself because I probably will never see one like that again .That would be the EURion detector. Most banknotes designed this millennium contain a distinctive, repeating pattern, dubbed the Eurion constellation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EURion_constellation). Manufacturers of printers, cameras and scanners and image editing software companies have now written into their software the ability to detect the EURion pattern, and take preventive action. I'd heard about it, but never heard a personal testimony of a note collector actually being blocked by it before.
The bank gives me a stack of 50 Euro used notes
Canon driver said error error you may have wrongly placed the object whatever I tried
Silverfast driver was a lot more explicit , it said I was trying to scan a banknote and would be allowed but that it would attach a refuse to print and gave a website for all of the world with the legislation in vigor for scanning , printing or sharing electronically banknotes .
72 dpi max and specimen printed over 70% of the surface is the Belgian requirement . I was downright amazed cause I thought that that only writing on it or tearing it in two was forbidden . ???
Given the rarity of the 1885 $20, I wouldn't even give that coin a second glance. Perhaps the fire is a ruse to lead you away from your money?
What are you talking about? I regularly see €20K coins with crappy photos, don't you know, you buy what the seller says, not what the farging coin looks like? :D It is amazing these losers sell anything, but then consider the average population, IQ well... :'(
Which would explain why the seller is using a stock image lifted probably from some marketers site.
While we're barshing eBay, I wonder why when I go onto the Belgian eBay site, looking for a specific item, it would not let me bid at all? I had to pull up the item number on the USA site to be able to bid on it. The seller had no problem selling to a 'Merican, but the dumb site hated my bid until I went in through the back door via the USA site, where the item was not even in the index pages.
You would think they could at least package that coin better.
Well, they are French after all, and they do the first part of it nice(the coin) then f*** up the packaging. Just like a lot of things. ;D
They issued the coin, not the paint crap on it.
While we're discussing stupid numismatic fecal matter:

I don't really care for diamonds. I do like emeralds though, so my wife will get a new one soon. I owe her, for letting me purchase all the effluent I have bought.
That one is from the Knights Wannabees, the real order is the Ordine Sovrano di Malta or something similar. There is another Knights Wannabee called the Order of Jerusalem or something that stamps out coins too.
That actually looks rather nice. most coloured coins that I've seen look extremely tacky... Maybe it's the rich colours that do it.
One does not know just how beautiful these painted items are until they go to sell them! The tears are not for joy! :'(
Hey, maybe I could do a FLOOD of 08 Coin with an outstanding colored photo of a knight in armor and rubber boots?
Hey Paint Your Wagon, thats NOT his left foot! I have, or did have, Cook Island full frontal view of their fertility God and he does have two legs and is quite well blessed for such a little guy! ;D
eBay is biting the farm in my opin. I have tired of selling on there for all the regs, paypoo etc. nonsense.I've basically given up buying a coin there unless I personally know the seller or it's an unattributed rarity: misrepresentation is rife otherwise.
Hey that's an awesome looking coin, am I right in assuming it is of Gold??
Part of a series? excuse me if I have missed something...
THESE ARE THE FIRST SILVER COINS WITH REAL 24K GOLD PLATED EDITION, A HIGHLY COLLECTABLE AND DESIRABLE ITEM:D I've noticed other auctions from Germany mistaking our nickels for silver, but a "gold plated edition" is a new one! lol.
I've sometimes taken the time to notify the seller of their mistake, only to be corrected back! ::)
ebay France and Germany are being flooded with mini st gaudens
0.5 gram and going by past german analyses between zero and 8 carat gold

I don't even waste my time anymore with contacting sellers to correct their auctions.I must have some twisted sense of duty, lol. ;D I'll even contact a seller when they're auctioning an unattributed variety they could sell for more--or I'll just buy it if I don't have one already.
Aw man. August, after peeking at that pretty Louis XIV coin, I wandered off into the depths of Ebay Frances, and found something I like. :( My French is definitely not up to par, so I don't know if I will bid on the coin or not. Of course, in four days, the coin may not be so reasonably priced, either. Oh, and it isn't gold, either. ;)

Seller doesn't take paypal, which makes a transaction difficult, I can imagine he takes IBAN, but who in America does that?
Oooooh, thank you!
So if I bid and win, I will pay you. And do you take paypal, or only gold? ;D
I can probably manage an untouched sacagewea for you. ^^ Even if I have to go buy one and an airtite for it too. The pretty copper lion is worth that, and a bit more even.
That isn't a problem at all. I will PM it to you right now.
No more offers? Shoot I was just getting ready to advise my Belgium friend I know where and how to get my paws on a Sackie PROOF that has never even been breathed on! Darn the luck!
Transaction parfaite avec personne très sympathique. Merci.
Hurray! I received feedback from Fernand today! This means the payment has gone through, and my coin should be on the way before he leaves for his vacation. :D
I do wish I could translate properly what he said, though.QuoteTransaction parfaite avec personne très sympathique. Merci.
I can translate the words into English, but somehow I think part of the meaning gets lost.
Mr. Auguste, I will pick out the Sac dollar Saturday morning, and make it the best one I can find. :D I will ship it out ASAP after that, as well. *bounces happily*

Paraguay, 1/12 Real, copper. 1845. The country's first coin, KM 1.1. 1 of 2 coins struck in reales, decimalisation occurred in 1870.
Sir Auguste, you don't owe me a penny. ... Unless it's Australian, of course. I hope you enjoy your set!
you are not a platform but a broker and please that is 38.6 million euro fineWonderful...maybe they'll be forced to clean house? :D Here in the USA, I think we call that a "fencing operation".
It's here It's here It's here It's here It's here!
My lovely South American Lion made it to my house today, and I have to say that was a fast transaction!
I also -highly- recommend Ferdeparis as a seller on Ebay. He was awesome! Even returned my messages in English, while I practiced my awful French on him. :D
She's such a beautiful coin...
Monsieur August, Merci!

This is my Lion from Paraguay. :D I posted it before, but it's on the previous page. :(

For that coin, not a bad opening bid. Currently the market for these coins is ridiculous - they and the 1/2 oz coins often sell for double melt. I wanted to buy some, but I was hoping to find them when I was in UA last month - all I could find there were Swiss gold coins and bars.
Oligarchs will pay that kind of money for those, nobody in Russia really trusts banks. Which to some extent is to their credit :D
I sure wish Russia would strike that design in silver so I could afford it!!! ;D
I am trying to find out about Spanish coins
As not surprising KM is wrong again
Schlumberger 1988 and Friedberg 1976 seem to have more information
Does anyone have these goldcoin catalogues ?

I have the Friedberg, and might get some more info regarding Spanish gold coins, what do you need?
It seems to me that according to Krause starting with the 2 escudos 1868 (68) they put a date between brackets
also the 1865 is stated 175 $ uncirculated and the 1868 (68) 1500 $ uncirculated
Far down the page for a 10 peseta 1878(62) Krause states that the date between brackets is a 1962 restrike from original dies
for 85 $ uncirculated. On the internet I found that 19 should be in the left star next to the date and 62 in the right star next to the date
making it clear that 1878 is a restrike from 1962
My confusion is what does it mean when the date between brackets is the same like 1868(68) and why would a restrike if it is one be 8.5 times more
expensive then an original form 1865
Krause gives no strike numbers so I do not know that mintage is part of the answer
The information on the stars came either from Friedberg or Schlumberger
Thank you very much
So 1868 (68) means there is a date 1868 and 68 on the stars and it is an original and the only restrikes are 1961 and 1962 Alfonso XII coins ?
And to think I about had a cow when I paid $85 for a battery last month. It was the best battery they had for my vehicle! It would have been cheaper for you to buy one over here and have it shipped!!! ;)
Euforix calls this near mint
He is euforic allright

27 carat junk
Wow,a 27 Karat gold piece,Now thats rare!! ::)...and the best part is that someone is probably going to buy it!
Now I am going to have to dig mine out and check it for damage!!! :o You must admit it was a very unique design and, if I remember correctly, it did win the COTY Award (Coin of the Year). I have noticed, if the coins were left in thier original packaging they toned very quickly. Certainly not my favorite coin but still a unique holding even if it is now worthless?
You have to keep in mind he is looking for someone crazier than he is and Ebay is just the place to find them!!! ;D
The Brolga (Grus rubicunda), formerly known as the "Native Companion", is a bird in the crane family. The bird has also been given the name "Australian Crane", a term coined in 1865 by well-known ornithological artist John Gould in his Birds of Australia.
The Brolga is a common gregarious wetland bird species in tropical and eastern Australia, well known for its intricate mating dance.

Maybe that is what I really am an MS Clunker? Nah, probably just another AU clunker! ;D
AND they put clothes on her! What were they thinking? :o
We still have ugly black SQUARES as the puritans are alive and well in the USA. Heaven forbid that someone would actually be proud of their body over here!!! :o Control comes in many forms! You must be taught fear and shame as we are not born with it!
Well I am sure he found some woman who was blinded by his white collar? Got to give him a little credit though, apparently he had good taste in women? ;) Your wife should be commended for seeing through all the fog they spew everywhere they go! They tell me there are two kinds of people overhere you DON'T want to do business with! Cops and Priests!!! Of course that is just a rumor! ;) Guess there is something to feeling like you are above the law or better than everyone else? Now we have added a third and fourth to the list! Politicians and Corportate Executives!!!
Maybe I should commission Daneil to strike a "Witch Nut" medallion which would actually be rare and valuable money in their domain? And of course I would be the only one to have access to these rare and valuable coins to be sold on Ebay and all the faithful followers of the Legend! ;) I would have years to sell them off? Thanks PYW for another great idea as I would control the entire mintage!

Oh how pleasant buying on ebay can be
Now let's see the private insurance squeem

I would explain that why should you pay the 9.9 euros for something you didn't get? Be persistant.
My wife her birthday present from ebay just arrived from germanyThe vendor paid back the auction price 120 euro (presumably by way of the insurance )

but NOT the mail costs of 9.90 euro
What do I do ?
Give a negative nonetheless or try to squeeze the other 9.9. euro out of him ?
I am soooo convinced he packed it broken up to swindle the insurance since some of the glass splinters
were outside the bubble wraps . But I cannot accuse him because I have a witness but do not know
the possibilities of this breaking inside a double bubble wrap and then splinters getting outside the double bubble wrap ( but I feel it close to impossible )
Gold sure has a strange color in Germany doesn't it? ;)
WHAT DOES ERDNUESLIS LOOK LIKE ??? ??? ???MAYBE THAT EXPLAINS HER GOOD FORTUNE??????
YOUR SERVANT.......THE TEMPLAR(http://)
They never do specify whether it was "lightly" cleaned in 1930 or just before it was posted for auction and the photo? Also they never reveal whether it was cleaned by dipping, a Q-tip or a wire brush? ;D
I have seen cleaned coins that were very appealling and were needed for my collection. Many times I was ready to buy when I pulled out the magnifying glass. Isn't it amazing what a magnifying glass can do for old eyes? It just kills me to walk away from a coin I have been dreaming about for years because some idiot decided to make it "more" presentable! Sometimes the best intentions don't always work out. I guess we all find out, in this hobby, there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. ;)
Bought at nearly $100 under melt - guess nobody likes Ethiopian gold:
Also bought a 1931 Austrian 100 Kronen at about 75 % of spot for the gold in it. Pays to look at the overlooked coins in online auctions.
Some fool who thinks he is buying gold? And, quite obviously, it is apparent most folks other than coin collectors DON'T know what a gram bar would look like. The photos are great but paying a $1.00 for a gram of silver adds a whole new meaning to the high price of silver. Makes those full ounce coins worth well over $32.00 (By the gram) and brings a smile to the postal workers faces when you buy by the gram! What a joke and people are actually bidding on them? :'(
Those remind me of those fake California territorial "gold" pieces that were so popular 10 years ago (I still see them sold on ebay in waves every now and again).
It's like gold foil.

I reckon that would depend on who you talk to. I see it used a lot. The Sheldon 70-point scale and the Official American Numismatic Association Grading Standards for U.S. Coins make no note of such a grade. So I would say no Brilliant Uncirculated is not a grade. I'm sure some would disagree.
I have found that dealers and "big" money clients tend to get higher grades than us normal collectors. Of course the grading services will deny that but it is a lifelong fact in my opinion. They have to take care of their big business so to speak!
