Today my wife and I went to a local soccer field to see what the weekender's had dropped.
Not much but there was plenty of stuff deeper down in the dirt...

Looks like you found virgin soil that has not been scoured over recently, the corrosion on the coins suggests they have been there a while.  My kids like to haunt the playgrounds with their $20 detectors, and actually they usually find a bit of a haul.

That's a good haul.

I often think about getting back into detecting again, but don't want to do it alone.
