Title: Strange find in an unlikely place.
Post by: Dumanyu on February 27, 2008, 03:55:46 PM
Look under my desk to plug in my desk lamp, and there is this little coin sitting in the corner. Pull it out, and find a 1858 Flying Eagle cent in VG-8. No idea from whence it came, but I'll take these kind of surprises anytime.

Y'know, that happened to me, in the parkinglot of the apartments that I will be living in only for the next week.  I was getting out of my car, and noticed a little coin on the ground. Picked it up, and it was an almost uncirculated Netherlands 1/2 cent coin.  I know it had to have come from me, but damned if I remember losing one.

Twoshadows was over a week or so ago and I was wanting to show him the Merlin coin I bought off eBay. I went to the trusty old strongbox and came out with the drawer that holds my special what-nots and stumbled across a 1998 1/4oz gold eagle I had forgot about buying from a damsel in distress at work one day for a mere $100.00. At the time, I couldn't for the life of me remember where it came from. I'm glad I found it though.

There are two coins I own, which I can't find.  And, it drives me bonkers.

One is a 1932 D Washington quarter in very good shape.  It is, by far, the most valuable coin I have ever found in circulation.

The other coin was given to me by our children, quite a few years ago -- a 1/4 ounce Gold Eagle.

While it's a little off topic, I also highly value an autographed picture of Harry S. Truman, personally enscribed to me.  I'd like to have it on my office wall, but can't find it.

I hope I can find all three items eventually.
