This is one of those coins that I wish I had my camera working for.
The scanner while it shows detail very well completely fails to capture the coins luster. My wifes point and shoot camera takes very poor macros with glare and reflections. (I don't know how to use it)
The coin is un-toned and looks like the day it was minted. Full steps
It however has major issues.
The alloy mix was not quite correct for this blank
OBV
there is a detached lamination running across the bottom of Jefferson's Hairline.
There is a lamination on his collar. A die crack from the top of his head to the rim.
REV
there is a small lamination under the UM of UNUM. A die crack running between the El of MONTICELLO. A small lamination between the Five and Cents.
In hand at first glance it looks like a very nice MS coin. Detailed examination reveal all the issues.
PCGS list the 43D at $40 in MS65 FS I would like $15 shipped anywhere.
