Yet Another Suggestion For 2008
March 15, 2008, 10:05:56 AM
I'm getting way ahead of myself, however since the Secret Santa and Secret Bunny were great successes, are we going to wait until Christmas, 2008 to do this again?

What about something "secret" to celebrate the autuminal equinox?  Maybe a "Secret Pumpkin" or "Secret Harvester," or Secret...  Something?

Do you think we should fill in that open fall space with something, for those interested, or just wait until Christmas?

 :D :D :D :D

I'm in for a Secret 'whatever you want to call it'! Could it even be something like picking a date such as 1st July to celebrate everyone's birthday and simply send a birthday gift to your 'secret recipient'? Just a thought!

On August 2 we can celebrate the Secret Horse (in honour of the Horses' birthday). Bu that is still a few months away.  You could use a 'horsey' theme. That might get people thinking  ;D

What about a 'Mid Summer's Nights Dream' effort.  Be alright for those up north, mid winter for us poor sods down south. :) :)
Summer /Winter solstice, June 21/22.
Just a thought , not too soon, but gives us a little breathing space from the last one. ;)

I was wondering if maybe we need to space the next "Secret" thing so that it's halfway between Easter & Christmas.
That'd be in approx another 4½ months.

But.....can we wait that long, or should we have 2 more before Christmas, that would be say somewhere near the end of June & September.

Muckeye's 'Secret Summer/Winter Solstice' of Jun 21/22 sounds good to me actually, then in early October we have the 1st Birthday of KOTCT to celebrate. So that'd give us 4 sort of evenly spaced events.

Plenty of planning time to get our thoughts organised too.  ;)

It's the year of the Rat, so we don't have to wait, we can have a Secret Rat anytime.

Yay for the year of the Rat!  I'm a rat in the Lunar Calendar, and a Leo by the Zodiac.  Rather appropriate for me, I'd say :D

I love these trading events, and will happily participate.  I like the idea of celebrating the Solstices, since that spaces things out each three months. :)

Do add this coin to my collection?

Both MERLIN and I really like the idea of celebrating the solstices as well. These are real natural occurances and not a man made idea created to boost the economy. Excellent idea ElleKitty! Quite honestly most of the worlds holidays have been created around natural events but the names were changed to appease those in power at any given time. Mankind used to be in tune with the world, nature and all things around him but those times, for most, are long gone. They have all jumped on board the "Lets get dumber" wagon on its way to Easy Street!!! ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

I'm in for a secret whatever you want to call it. I would think of a whitty name, but I've had an exhausting weekend (actually 2 in a row) putting in a new floor in my living room and dining room. I have to do these type of jobs by myself because I'm too meticulous to allow others in on my work, and loosen my standards.

Nothing wrong with looser tolerances, but my motto is anything worth doing, is worth doing right. See I told you I'm not firing on all cylinders, as I ramble on. Anyway count me in on... what were we talking about? ;)

4 a year sounds about right. I don't have too much of a preference though. Everyone has a chance to opt in or out each time, so its obviously a personal choice each time. I personally enjoyed the secret easter bunnybilby alot. But I might only sign up twice a year. It all really depends on if I have anything to give, or a few extra bucks to go sectret-whatever shopping.

Well I do not think we should destroy a good thing by having to many.

Since I am not in these (as I organised them) lets just make it a "secret humpybong" and send all of your coins to me.      ;D

I agree that we don't want too many, and perhaps spoil a good thing.

However, the fact that we can opt in or out should take care of that potential problem.

Hehehe! Secret Humpybong indeed. I think a different person should organise it each time, not that Barry didn't do an absolutely sterling job of it.

It'll just make it fairer for him to be able to participate, and spread the work around. I don't thnk it's fair for him to have to do all the 'leg work' so to speak.

I don't see why Barry can't participate in the first place. If you are drawing the names of who sends to whom out of a hat, or something, just ask a friend or significant other to help draw out the names. This way you get what ever the luck of the draw is.

We are all honorable, and just because Elle wants to send me that 100Kg .9999 pure Canadian gold coin next time around, I'm sure Barry would never interfere with Elle's wishes.
Right Elle!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I wholeheartedly agree that Barry should participate & I tried to convince him to include his name, but for whatever reason he felt he shouldn't, wouldn't, couldn't, so he didn't.  ;D ;D

I still think others of us should take turns organising. I don't want to deprive humpybong of the pleasure if he's happy to do it but I think it might be a tad presumptuous of us to expect him to do 4 of these per year.

I did once but I knew who my Secret .......  was.    I know most of us can figure it out but it is supposed to be a secret......for a little while anyway.

I am happy to set these up......I am also happy if someone else wants to have a go.

Still like the idea of "secret humpybong" with me getting all of the coins though...... ;D

I'm/he's still keen on a Solstice theme, not too soon and smack bang in the middle of the year (almost, so to speak, if you seewhat I mean).
