I lost my USB drive about a month ago. It is one of two locations, as it must have fallen out of my pocket when I dug my car keys out. I didn't see it at my kids' school so I'm fairly certain it's in the other location. Your job is to guess what day I find it.
Winner gets one of each Canadian Olympic quarters in UNC that have been released so far, based on the date I find the USB drive - your guess is as good as mine as to how many quarters will be released by then.
Here is where It must be:

Good luck!

I don't want to sound negative, but my guess is that you never find it.
-
15 April 2008, if you're lucky! ;D ;D

1st April, 2008

Jingus. Uh..
April 4, 2008?
-
20 april . I hope for your sake that you do find it and it still works. :-\
-
I have very carefully studied the photograph, and based upon my precise mathematic equations:
I think you'll find it by 1st May 2008.
(Alright, I admit it, I just pulled the date out of thin air!) ;D :D ;D :D ;D
-
27 March, this year, hopefully.
regards.
-
Based on Murphy somebody else will find it and if you get it back it will be totally ruined because they cleaned it before giving it back
Date of finding it 30 march
-
April 24th and I got my information from MERLIN! Don't let him down! ;D
-
20 april . I hope for your sake that you do find it and it still works. :-\
Tiddy - AdamL has already taken the 20th of April, so try another date.
I had a previous one go through the washing machine and dryer, twice, and it still works flawlessly to this day! (And it wasn't even a waterproof model!) The only reason I don't still use it is it's only 64MB. LOL I suspect this one should be fine as it's a name brand, but the only thing I'd really need to rescue are all of my bookmarks. They're mostly coin-related websites that I've added over the last several months, and I didn't think to back them up like I did most of the other data.

I ll try for 5th may then ;D

I hope you find safe and sond on the 21st of March :)

Some of you may not have seen the other pictures of the pile in the "Weather for Sale" thread. Here's another view of it with my 6 year old daughter standing at the END of the driveway. The picture says 8th of March 2008, but it was actually taken on the 9th. My wife hasn't figured out how to change the date. LOL

I'll post updates every so often. Just so you know, it was quite warm today. It got up to 2C, but they're calling for more snow tomorrow. Oh, the humanity!
-
March 23.
Went to grad school south of you in Windsor so I suspect a warm spell could happen at any time.
Was temped to look at a long term weather forcast. :)
-
Lets try March 29th
Madspec
-
I go with April 10th 2008
Thanks!
-
Update: Warm temperatures this past weekend. It got up to 5C! I almost buttoned my coat, but then I didn't want to get too hot! LOL
The snowpile is down to about 6.5 feet high, but a good chunk of the pile in the street has melted and fallen away, much like you see those icebergs crashing into the sea on all of those global warming videos. Except this one just crashes into the street.
-
March 28.
:) :) :) :)
-
The "memory stick" I use to take my sports stories to the newspaper was accidentally put through both the washer and dryer a month ago.
Still works fine!!
:) :) :) :)
-
Update: Two days of freezing rain has lowered the pile to about 6 feet high, but it's snowing today, and this weekend they're calling for temps to go back below freezing. (It got all the way up to 5C on Tuesday!)
It's not looking good for those of you who picked March dates. :(
Here's the guesses so far:
Mar 21 - eg-collector
Mar 23 - Tobyle (dharmaeye also picked this date)
Mar 25 - buda
Mar 27 - Muckeye
Mar 28 - CoinCrusader42
Mar 29 - Madspec
Mar 30 - Paint Your Wagon
Apr 1 - humpybong
Apr 4 - ElleKitty
Apr 10 - mila
Apr 15 - Nevol
Apr 20 - AdamL
Apr 24 - Twoshadows
May 1 - Snooba
May 5 - tiddyathome
never :( - triggersmob
-
Mar 23 - Tobyle (dharmaeye also picked this date)
It's time you checked your pockets again!
-
Gizmo reckons April 7th.
Also wants to know if he can become an honorary menber???
woof,
-
It was below freezing all weekend, so no melting in the last three of four days. On top of that we got another 2-3 inches of snow. I also noticed a small glacier (about a foot thick) that has formed at the bottom of the pile. I wonder if the USB drive is encased in that, or if it's in the snow that is on top of it? More snow is forecast for tomorrow. :(
-
We got a bit of schnow last night, crikes it was colder than a witches you know wha this morn.
-
Supposed to get up to 8C on Monday, and rainy. There's some hope for you early April guessers! Then again, the pile is still almost as tall as I am, and I have no idea how far down the pile that little usb drive might be! LOL
-
I slid on ice near the garage this morn whilst pulling the blower out to put away, since I hope in vain that it will not snow again.

I started the snowblower fund a month ago, 'cause I can't take another winter like this one!
-
I got the snowblower four years ago, I owned another home up the street and had to clean off the driveway there for the tenant, and my own long driveway. I sold the other place last year, but still have my long driveway, the blower got used lots this winter.

We had 12 C today and my wife reported having seen the sun allthough I cannot confirm that sighting ;)

We've had plenty of sun in the last two weeks, we just haven't had temperatures above freezing when we've had the sun. At least I don't have sinus problems in the winter! LOL
-
Well, my guess is down the drain.
Gizmo -- an honorary member? Does he own an Australian coin?
:D :D :D :D
-
I've started to see the roadsigns appearing from the snowbanks in the last week or two, so that's an encouraging sign. Too bad the Groundhog was full of $#!^ this year. :D
-
G'day all.
Don't forget that some of us are just starting to look forward to Winter.
It was 5 C here this AM, coldest night for 6 months.regards,
-
Got up to 13C yesterday and the pile shrunk by about half. It's now only about 3 feet tall, but it got down to -4C this morning, so it's a big chunk of ice, now. Supposed to warm up a little more tomorrow (+5C), so we might have a little more melting in the next week or so. Thankfully, there's no more calls for snow (yet!).
-
Topher, you'd better get out there and start looking for that little thing! Friday's coming up ;)
-
It's been quite warm around here lately. (9C today), so I suspect we'll know by this weekend if it's there or not, possibly sooner. The chunk of ice is still about 2 feet tall, but it's melting quickly.
-
We have snowstorm expected this weekend, so Topher, do not count on digging out yet, I am sure we will likely send it your way when we are done with it.

Central Minnesota: Snow beginning around 3pm Thursday (4-10) lasting to Saturday morning. Expect 6" to 12" (15 to 30 cms) of snow. Ah, so much for 'Global Warming'.
-
Then I guess the big question is, will it melt enough to find? or will it bury it further? Is it even under that snow and ice? Tune in next week....
-
It's over!!!!
Last night was quite an eventful night for us. I picked up my new car (I've never had a NEW one before), my daughter lost her first tooth, and I found my USB drive!!! I haven't plugged it in yet, and I'll let it dry out for the weekend before I try it, just in case there's any moisture inside. It looks like Mila picked the exact day! Congrats!
I've got your address around here somewhere, but you'd probably better pm it to me again, and I'll get your olympic quarter collection off to you.
Thanks to all who played the game, except triggersmob, who thought it was lost forever! :P
-
We're getting rain today and tomorrow, so it looks like it won't be cold enough to be snow for us, thank goodness!
-
Yay! I'm so happy you found it!
Congrats Mila!
-
I was just thinking that maybe you lost it else where and would never see it again. I am glad that you found it though.
I could never have won the contest anyway, I would have to wait forever to see if you never found it. LOL
I hope it dries out ok and works like a bought one.
-
Wow. Congatulations!
-
Congratulations mila. ;D ;D
1. Congrats on the New Car
2. The Tooth Fairy can visit now without getting cold feet.
3. Topher, don't forget to let us know if it still works.
-
OMG! :o I had forgotten about this contest!
Thank You Topher! Email on it's way!
mila :-*
-
Shame your Short Snorter didn't arrive as well.
regards ;)
-
Mila, please let me know when the coins arrive. I would hope it's soon, but I had a package once take 3 weeks to get to such far away place like Massachusetts.
An update for everyone else - the drive doesn't work. But my cheap - Chinese made one that isn't as sturdy and went through the washer and dryer twice STILL works. Only problem is it's just 32MB.
So - I've been recreating my entire list of coins from scratch. Not a fun task. I'm probably about 1/4 of the way there, it's entering the data into excel that takes such a long time. I'll have plenty of coins up for barter when I finally do get it finished though.
-
OK. We now know that USB drives don't take kindly to being frozen but may very well be washable. I wonder if that'll ever be a trivia question. ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D
-
:-* :D
Topher, the coins arrived today!
Now I need a little info on these, please :)
- Are these a 'series'?
- Will there be others minted?
- What is the metal content of the coins?
- Site to read all about them?
I love them. Thank YOU!

It's the start of a set of 12 Olympic quarters, and there will be 3 additional quarter (bronze, silver and gold.) If you really like it, then you also need the two "lucky loonies" that go with it (2008 and 2010). Nothing like getting you hooked on a new series. LOL

ooo you're bad....... OK.... you got me hooked. ;D
- So the coins you sent are silver?
- Are the loonies out yet? Where can I get them?
- I gather these won't be circulating in general?
mila
-
I is OK mila.....I also got hooked on them.....then I also saw other commemorative quarters...gotta have them as well.....
Look out all.....it is contageous :o
-
Mila - no, they're nickel-plated steel. The first Loonie will be available in July of this year, and then the quarters resume in September. These are all circulating issues. The NCLT issues are colourized, as the Canadian Mint is getting into colours and holograms on it's NCLT.
-
Thanks Topher,
Looking forward to their release. :P

Topher; with the snow already starting in Canada, I just wanted to send a friendly reminder to add a GPS tracking device to your USB external flash drive. ;D
Forgive me for dragging this old thread up out of the litterbox. ;)
