Hey Goose, is this you?
January 11, 2013, 01:03:33 AM
I'm sure you said you use to live in Chicago.
I know it's a bit of a long shot, but you never know.

YES, I lived there for 24 years before getting married and moving out of Chicago to a suburb. The envelope - Dec 31, 1957....from Jerome, Idaho? Must have been people my folks knew. That house was sold in 2010 after 74 yrs of family ownership. I helped clean out that house in 2009 & 2010 making 14 trips to/from where I live now....1000 miles (1670 km) round trip each time. We found a lot of good stuff in the attic....new toys (U S & Japan-1930s), Chicago police memorabelia (1890s to 1920s...my grandfather), new hats & clothing, etc from the 1930s. Also found was around $60 in U S silver coinage (common stuff), Boy Scout stuff from as far back as 1917 (my dad's), and (2) U S gold coins. Ahhh, memories!
HOW THE HECK DID YOU GET THAT? Might I have sent it to you....I don't remember.

I don't remember either. Getting old sucks.
I haven't bought any covers, so someone must have sent it to me, so I guess it must have been you.
Hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane Nordica Ave.  ;D

Mr. & Mrs. C.L. Schaefer took a road trip to the western U.S. in 1957. Two of their children, Marty & Dave, accompanied them. Their trip was cut short because Mr. Schaefer injured his right foot and was in a lot of pain. On July 31, 1957, the family was in Hailey, Idaho, a little town of no account. Mr. Schaefer and Marty were working on the family car, a 1953 Nash. Dave, age 11, was goofing around and climbed up the hotel's metal fire escape ladder. He suddenly was electrified and yelled for help. Marty ran, jumped and pulled Dave off the metal ladder. The hotel owner had attached a high voltage source to the ladder to prevent people from sneeking into the hotel. I'm Dave.
