Title: Best Romantic Films
Post by: Paint Your Wagon on March 04, 2010, 11:09:41 PM
I watched yesterday the 1968 version of the film of the play by Shakespeare

Romeo and Juliet

In this version Juliet takes a potion that makes her look dead and Romeo finds her
and takes a real poison and when Juliet wakes up and finds dead Romeo she
puts a dagger thru her heart

It is a lot better then the version where the maid childkeeper is hassled by the Montagues
and falsely goes tell Juliet that Romeo is dead

And yes I have seen Love Story half a dozen times
Any more good nominations for a first place ?

I like "Under the Tuscan Sun" - cheesy story, but great scenery and Diane Lane has a certain hotness to her.

"When a Man Loves a Woman" is fascinating because it explores the meaning of true love with it's challenges.

Right now I can't get Dean and Samantha (Sam) off my mind in THE WITCH NUTS but a new twist is coming! (I did this for Nevol as she loves mysteries!) And its coming from Canada! ;)

As for romantic movies I would be at a loss as they don't have much impact on my brain any longer. Now a good western, well thats a horse of a different color!

I liked Ghost, I thought that was very well done.

Whoopie Goldberg was not overly romantic, but she sure was hilarious in that movie.

Thats the first movie that came to my mind-Pretty Woman-when I read the first post in this thread. I am still sick that someone else got MY part in that movie!!! I am sure that Julia Roberts was just as disappointed but...? ;D
