2008 Coat of Arms 'C' Mintmark Dollar Coin
January 01, 2008, 04:34:22 PM

Well it has been released, rang my coin shop in Brisbane and he had 10 Al/Br left so I took the lot.

He was still waiting on the silver ones to arrive.

The call to the Darkside is strong!!! U.S. Knights and Knightessess MUST have that coin to feed their addiction! Of course, some of us NEED the silver as well!
I will have to start working on some of the older dollars as I have most of the recent issues in every mint mark in uncirculated condition. I still find it amazing how many mint marks Australia issues each year but it does make for a more challenging and attractive set.

WILL THERE BE A 2008 PROOF MOB OF ROOS??? THATS MY #1 DESIRE FROM DOWN UNDER!!!

Yes, there is a MoR for 2008, but you may have to get it in one of the mint sets.  Dunno if it will circulate or not.

Do add this coin to my collection?

Twoshadows, don't despair - the 2008 Proof Mob of Roos is available in the 2008 'Two Coin Proof set'. It has the Proof Mob of Roos dollar and the Proof 20cent International Year of Planet Earth. (A$45)

Already available.  I called into my dealer today and was told that the release would not be until end January for the UNCs and proof.

I really like it.

Just checked today and my Dansco Album for $1 coins is still on back order.

Once I get it, and get it filled, I'll be caught on on all the decimal denominations.

Whoops, wait a minute.  It is 2008 now isn't it?!

Well the Australian "Coat of Arms" both in silver and bronze are resting comfortably in two Indiana homes this morning. It was a long trip but they made it safely to the Hoosier state!

My pair arrived today too!  One Silver COA and the Scouting 50 cents. :D  Certificate # 3501!

They're beautiful, although for some reason I was expecting the silver coin to be bigger...  I guess I always forget just how small diameter-wise the dollar coins are.

Do add this coin to my collection?

I have the huge proof silver MOB of ROOS that came out of a special set a few years back. Boy is it a sight to behold. I couldn't believe my luck when I found an Australian dealer who had busted the set open and I bought that coin very very cheap! No danger of any of my silver Mob of Roos making the trip back to Australia! Don't know the actual mintage figures but I have never seen another one offered on Ebay since!

Terry, is it a 2004 release? If so, I presume it was from the 2004 Masterpiece in Silver set which was produced to celebrate 20 years of the Australian Dollar. The mintage limit was 18,000 sets, but the ACTUAL mintage was 8,250 (according to McDonalds guidebook).

I have all three including the Silver Coloured Proof.

I have viewed and taken pictures of this coin, but not of them is even close to the brilliance this coin has and the shaprness of colours.

Tobyle,  I assume it was out of the 2004 set but would have to dig it out as I am not certain at this time. Does Macca give a price for these coins as singles? If the mintage is just a little over 8,250 sets then I have got a great coin!

The set itself is listed as CV $210, but unfortunately, no price listings for the individual coins. So far, I only have the scalloped shaped MOR from that set.

Thought I would break mine out of the folder for a photography session. Comes with complementary bag marks, brown spots and funny shape rim. Apart from that it's fine.  ::)

The next coin in the Coat of Arms series is the Sydney S counterstamp from the portable press. Nice coin this one. Mirror like GEM uncirculated. The target mintage was only 16,000.

My "S" privy marks arrived in the mail today. That's the one with the square around the S.

The font appears to be more bold on the reverse an IMO looks nicer.

Picked up a couple of "B" counterstamp coins at the ANDA Show in Brisbane.

Will try and scan them to post here.

What a great weekend......cost me a a few dollars but I am happy.

They tell me it was a long wait in line to get the counterstamp coins. I had a mate fly down to visit the show and waited 90 minutes in line! Then they only allowed 3 at a time.

The Brisbane counterstamp would be one of the lowest mintage $1 coins with less than 4000. Be interesting to know just how many. I managed to buy one from Oztion over the weekend. You see them slowly popping up on Ebay too but not at the same rate the Sydney counterstamp did.

That is correct Hermit,  1 1/2 hour turnaround and only 3 issued to each person.  If you wanted more you had to line up for another hour and a half.

I saw a woman go around a number of times all day (she did not see anything else of the show) and she only manged to get a total of 18 coins in 6 hours.

Sunday they only had 400 left and that ran out around lunch time.  Total of 4000 issued including dealer purchases.
Already going for $30 on ebay.
