Interesting...I notice a similar softening to the "R" in DOLLAR and the Roo's front paws.

Yass reported this (in another forum I think) & supplied a photo. His coin also had a 'fat' ear on the large Roo.

If the Roo's features and devices are measurably thicker, it may be some kind of distended hub doubling, as a filled die would only lower relief.  I have found distended doubling on a predecimal Half Penny.

There are a few photos on my CCF coin gallery of 2006 $1 errors.  This one features.  I think there is also a photo of the 'fat' R in Dollar with the 'fat' paw.  There is alos one I have called 'tie me kangaroo down sport'.  It is a die crack from the paw to the rim.  I also found many with a die crack from both the paw and the foot.
