Title: Australian Olympic and Paralympic coloured $2 coins
Post by: Redlock on July 18, 2016, 06:23:10 PM
Okay...What is this?  ???
https://www.ramint.gov.au/publications/woolworths-shoppers-win-gold-exclusive-olympic-coin-launch
https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/ORDER-FROM-27th-July-2016-Australian-Olympic-Team-Program/510928.aspx

Are they expected to actually circulate? (And Steve knows what that means for me  ;)  )

In any case, I am bit shocked that there are six coins. A bit much if you ask me.

Ralf, don't panic, these coins are not for circulation, so you won't need them.
My wife works at Woolworths, so I might get a set for myself.

Actually, I might have to stand corrected. I just read in the Woolworths catalogue that these will be in circulation.
I will have to get a set for you Ralf, just in case. :)

That would be great.  :)

The mintage of 2 Million per coin (if I understand the reports correctly) have made me believe they might actually show up in circulation.
If these coins show up here
https://www.ramint.gov.au/two-dollar
they are definitely on my ''must have'' list.

Steve! I would like a set too if it's not too much trouble.

Can you try to round up a set for me also Steve?   I am a little confused by the article, are they only giving them out in change at Woolworth's?

That's supposed to be the way they are being distributed, but some shops have handed them out by the bag full from what I understand.
The staff of Woolworths have now been told the correct procedure.
