The Royal Australian Mint is currently releasing a 14 coin set of ANZAC themed 20 cent coins.
They are being released over a two week period through the local newsagents.
Here are the first 7 reverse designs, along with the common Obverse.
-
They are poor quality if you ask me, light strike coins.
These are not available thru the Australian Mint.....you can only get them when you buy a newspaper.....then pay an additional $3.00 to get a coin. 14 in the set.....expensive way to get 20 cent coins.
-
Actually, I reckon the quality is pretty good. the strike might be light, but there is barely a mark on them, not like your normal coins with bag marks all over them. Also, you don't need to buy a newspaper with ever one. Only 3 newspaper are required, one each Sunday for three weeks in a row. I buy the newspaper anyway. Just as a comparison, if you go the the RAM and buy a 2015 Cricket 20c or a 2015 Magna Carta 20c, they will cost you $8 or $12 each.

ANZAC 20 cents eries looks interesting.
Regarding the 20 cent Magna Carta coin, will there be one made for circulation since it would make a good mate for the UK Magna Carta 2 pound coin.

I just did a quick check on the WWW and it seems it will not be a circulating coin. I did find out though, that the 2014 ANZAC $1 will be struck again this year with the 2015 date, so that's another one for me to look out for.
-
Here are the next 6 coins. Only one to go now and that will be next Sunday.
-
I like them Steve. I think they are very nice. :)

VERY NICE COLLECTION OF COINS--WOULD MAKE A NICE ADDITION TO ANYONE'S COLLECTION...............THANKS FOR SHARING....
-
Thanks Joe, and nice to hear from you.
Have seen you post for awhile. :)

What do the mintages look like for the ANZAC 20 cents? I imagine it will be pretty low if you can only buy them with a newspaper.
-
Steve,
The more I look at these, the cooler I think they are. Is it too late to have you get me a set?
Thanks,
Matt
-
Matt, I thought you only collected circulating coins, so I didn't offer to get any for you, but I did acquire extra sets, so consider it done.
Jim, I'm not sure of the mintages yet. I have one set left on my desk, if you would like them.
-
Thanks Steve, I would like a set. Are they still in the with the story cards that came with the coins?
-
Yes they are, Jim, and they are in a folder to hold all the cards. This would make it very expensive to ship and personally I feel the coins should be removed from the cards anyway. Although the coin is covered in plastic on the outside, the other side is facing down onto the cardboard. If this cardboard is not proper archival quality, it will affect the coins. I have removed all mine from the cards and put them in 2x2s.

Acquired the last coin today.

Normally, you are correct, but you are starting to convert me to the dark 'darkside'!
Let me know where we stand with these added to the coins you are getting from your dealer friend so I can settle up with you. I've got the Large Cent, Flying Eagle Cent and the Columbian Expo Half set aside for you, plus a (large) handful of other coins.
Thanks,
Matt

Will do Matt, as soon as I find out what coins my dealer has, I will send you a list.
Normally I only collect circulating coins too, but every now and then I will add a
NCLT coin to my collection. Normally a coin mounted on a card from the Royal Australian Mint
would cost $8 or $10 each, so I thought at $3 each, these were a good deal.
