Hi Everyone.

Today, February 14, at 4 p.m., I mailed each of you a package of coins.

That's the good news!

Now for the questionable news.

I had been told by a postal clerk that customs forms were no longer needed.  I also called our local post office, and talked with who I assume is our postmaster.  He also said the customs forms were not needed.

When I walked in today to mail your packages, the two clerks who were on duty tried to give me customs forms to make out.  I explained to them that I had been told they were no longer needed.

So, they took the packages, charged me the postage, and dropped the packages into the "foreign mail" box.

So, it will be interesting to see if the packages get delivered, or if I eventually get them back with instructions to try it again!

Please let me know when, and if, they arrive.

Thanks!!

 :) :) :) :) :D :D :D :D

I mailed packages to Austalia this week and my postmaster ASKED for the customs forms and then asked me if I needed extras for future use. As for as I know the customs forms are still required, at least here in the proud state of confusion!!! ;D

It's very possible I will have all those packages back in my mailbox next Tuesday morning.

I guess one way or the other, I'll learn something from this mailing.

I asked just yesterday if customs forms were still needed for Australian mail and their response was YES if the package contained anything other than documents. He remarked that "If it has so much as a paperclip inside, it will need a form filled out". Letters are exempt. He did say that their were different rules for packages going to Canada.

He also said that if an envelope containing items other than documents was sent overseas without a customs form, they would likely be opened somewhere in the travels for inspection to verify contents.

If this is so, I do hope that the contents of Coincrusader's packages remain intact.

Keeping MY fingers crossed for you....

In regards to going the other way.
I was told the same thing recently, that only printed matter was exempt.

I've recently sent coins to the US in ordinary envelopes & haven't filled out customs declaration.  If I use a PostPack (bubble bag) different story, PO say they must have customs declaration.

I should have just played it safe and gone ahead with the customs forms.

We'll hope for the best, and that they are delivered, or returned to me for a second try.

A little bit of good news.

We had our first mail delivery in three days, and the packages weren't returned.

So, my guess is that they are on their way to Australia and Egypt.

Hope so anyway.

Good Heavens -- They made it without customs forms!!

I do think that in order to be safe I will just go ahead and use the customs forms in the future.

Happy the small packages arrived, and hope the others sent at the same time do also.

Mine arrived today too, thank you very much, Gary.

There should be some nice upgrades on my Lincolns in that folder.

Keep an eye on your post too, I posted a package about a week ago.

I'm so happy the packages are showing up -- even without customs forms.  I guess my postal official was correct.  The contents of the packages are nothing special, but I'm pleased they are making their way to where they were addressed.

Tomorrow (whoops, later today), my auctioned coins, and Secret Bunny item should be on the way, and I'll be all caught up.

 :D :D :D :D

I'm happy some of the packages have arrived.

The good news is that if some don't make it, it's really not a big deal.

I just had a few coins on my desktop, and wanted to share them with my friends.

I'll continue to do so, and I'm sure most will be delivered.

An up-date.

Mailed gift packages today to triggersmob and ElleKitty, and mailed TKO the coins he won in my auctions.

In addition, mailed the Monroe Dollars to Twoshadows several days ago.

If recipients have the time and inclination to advise when they arrive, I'd appreciate it.  Also, please let me know if they don't show up in your mail.

Thanks.

CC, Thank you kindly for the surprise gift package. o.o

And don't worry.  My mail will forward, and you might well have the distinction of being the first person to send mail to the new address! Whoohoo!

I have a .jpg of my moving announcement I"ve considered posting up here.  Since it isn't text, 'bots can't steal it, and since the forum is private, it should be safe enough.

Do add this coin to my collection?

I'm suprised that no one enquired about the papua New Guinea in my reply to Gary Burke.
For those interested, it translates as: 'Oh boy, I'm extremely happy'.

humpybong,

I have had nearly 100 percent success regarding my packages arriving.

However, the good news is that, in case yours doesn't, it simply contained a couple Monroe Dollars and three or four new Statehood Quarters.  Things I can easily replace and try again.

I am glad most of my packages arrived.

 :) :) :) :)

Darn Greg, should have gotten there by now.

As I wrote to humpybong, the packages didn't really amount to much.  A few Monroe Dollars and Utah Statehood Quarters.

It was just the thought that counts.

When I stockpile a few more coins, I'll try again, and hope for a more reliable turtle.

 :) :) :) :)

Looks like the turtle both Greg and mine was on, may have been eaten by a shark.

Either that or it is coming sea mail.....on board a snail
