Thank you, CC. I would like to -think- that I have a "fabulous" world coins collection. I have to admit, I've come into some really nice deals lately, thanks to the coin store I frequent. Only one of the employees there enjoys world coins at all, or really even knows what some of the pieces mean.
I know world coins fascinate me. Each and every one is so different, so fascinating. They come with pretty pictures on them that aren't dead American presidents. (Unless it's Liberia or the Cook Islands). Animals, plants, insects, places, people... art. Modern coins are interesting for their design and beauty. But the old coins interest me the most, with their implied history. It's hard to hold a spanish silver dollar and not imagine the sails flying overhead, the buccaneers, the chinese trade, the jungles of South America. God alone only knows where some of these coins might have been!
