I like it :D
-
......

Glad you like it as it is probably the BEST wooden dollar I have ever seen in my life! (for more than one reason) Also thank you for posting the photos!
I put mine in airtites as any termite with eyes and a brain will probably go right after that piece of wood!!! ;D
-
I don't know if the termites would be game to mess with that little lady! A force to be reckoned with. I love it!
-
Very nice :)
-
Isn't it amazing what one can do with a bunch of good friends, a few bucks and a piece of wood!!! Definitely nothing else in wood like it! And, it is a tribute to OUR LADIES!!! ;D
Anyone currently selling anything on Ebay? Maybe we ought to offer up one set, and only one set, (the only set ever available to the general public) and see what a wooden nickel (dollar) collector would pay for them? Who knows it may get us some great FREE publicity, not to mention, a few bucks for a never seen collecor item? If anyone is interested in doing the auction, email me, and I will see that a set finds the next turtle heading your way!
-
The KOTCT wooden dollars really are the nicest ones I've seen. And I think this year's is best of all.
-
I got mine today, too :) Quite interesting.
-
ElleKitty I kind of expected a different response from you? Quite interesting? My goal was to show a medieval or legendary knightess on one side (even if it was make believe) which would appeal to the men of our group and a modern day female on the other side. I knew that Daniel was covering the Lady or Queen image with our medallions, which I do like very much, so I decided to go the other direction with a little fantasy. ;D
-
*Grins* Well, it is quite interesting. Just because it's interesting doesn't mean I don't like it ;) I do like it!
-
I am relieved as I did not want to offend any one of our Ladies!!! My goal was to have something made that would draw a bit of interest and would be deemed a worthy collectable. With me getting old and forgetful I can't seem to remember which side you posed for? ;D
-
Terry, I don't think my picture made it to the wooden dollar. ;) However, you can see me on the reverse of Daniel's medallion. ;D I'm the one laying down. ^^;
-
Sorry ElleKitty, I must disagree, as I have seen a photo of you. You would be standing young Lady!!! ;)
-
That is one hot looking coin!
I'd be interested to see how one would go on Ebay too!
If no one puts their hand up to place an ad I'll give it a go. However, I'd need guidance on how to word things correctly.
-
I am not sure how wooden nickels or dollars are viewed in other countries but there are collectors of such items in the U.S. I suppose we should state these are the first ever offered for sale outside of the membership of KOTCT and the monies raised will be used to help offset website (forum) operating costs. I would go a bit farther and push the idea of it being the hottest wooden dollar every created in the world today. (thats our opinion isn't it?) I suppose it/they would have to be listed as tokens or something near that on Ebay. A second choice could be in the Dollar listings? I just need to know where to send them and do want to know the auction number so we can all watch it sell? Lord Percy we have nothing to lose and everything to gain by giving this a shot. I apprecate your willingness to step forward to volunteer. Email me with your address and we can go from there.
-
I'm wondering if we should wait to see if someone from the US offers to sell the coin. Looking at the wooden nickel market on eBay I notice that there isn't much calling for them here in Australia (none listed in Australia against 140 in US). It would make more sense (and cents) to advertise on the US eBay site and to post the coin to the successful buyer directly from the US.
Lets give it a week or so to see if someone from the US puts their hand up to organise the sale. If not then I'll give it a go.
-
Excellent stuff! Sure makes coin collecting seem exciting.
-
You have to admit some of the stuff we have managed to dream up are, at the least, unique? I know of no other online group that would even consider the things (quests) that we have tackled? ;D
-
Has the turtle made it to OZ yet?
-
Just to let everyone know that the turtle braved the cooling temperatures and made it up north. Woodies look amazing (of course). I'm already looking forward to the next installment.
-
The turtle arrived yesterday. I was getting a little concerned that Customs may have arrested him, but everything's OK. All Woodies will be sent on their way first thing Monday.
It's 6.30 AM Sat & in a couple hours I'll be back in my Son's shop helping him out.
-
The following Woodies were sent on their way yesterday to:
Buda 3 sets
Humpybong 2 sets
Yass 1 set
LordPercy 1 set
Muckeye 1 set
Triggersmob 1 set
Justabeginner 1 set
Tobyle 1 set
PM's also sent to all concerned.

Received mine today, many thanks to Nevol (Nancy). (Thanks mate)
Re the ebay sale, would have to be pushed with a lot of hype.
As a 'one off', you don't want it to go by without some publicity.
Maybe someone with a bit of ebay savvy could drum up a bit of interest before the sale. JMHP.
regards.

There is a section in Numismatic News about coin clubs. I'd say we qualify as a coin club. Perhaps we could get in there? We could email the editor.
-
Well when you consider the fact there are only 50 of these in the world right now it would seem to me a die hard wooden nickel (dollar) collector would probably really like to add this one to his/her collection? I am just not doing Ebay right now but do believe the hype would be easy to come up with seeing how we have NEVER offered one up for sale before to the general public? Can't help but be curious as to what our woodies or medallions would bring but I am just too tied right now to do the auctions.
-
Received my "woodies" today, many thanks to Nevol for on forwarding.
Congratulations on a great design......can hardly wait to see what you come up with for 2009.
GREAT JOB
-
Received my woodies today thanks to all that where involved
-
Received mine too. Thank you Nancy for forwarding them to me.
Great job, Terry. The woodie looks magnificent.
-
Received mine today as well. Thanks Nevol!
A fantastic job Terry!
-
Thanks everyone! I was a bit worried as these woodies were put together pretty darn quickly. I throw mine in an airtite, the oversized ones with the sponge circle to protect the coin inside. Really dresses the woodie up, gives it a little more class and, as I said, protects it from the elements and termites!!! ;D
-
My woodies arrived during the week. Thanks Nevol.
They're a great collector's item. I love the design.
